A FEW PIX FROM MY LONDON/PARIS TRIP

A FEW PIX FROM MY LONDON/PARIS TRIP

First let me say that I had an absolutely fabulous time, and I am looking forward to going to London again real soon. Paris is another story The people were so mean and everything was so costly and everything was name brand. Now I have to wonder, where do the regular folx shop My GF and I had breakfast and it was the most expensive breakfast I have ever had. $52, 2 slice of toast was $5 wow. The hotel was nice, the sights was nice, but after a day I was ready to return to London. We went every where. Their metro takes some getting used to. Opening the door yourself The smoking everywhere, wow.

Now London I love, love, love. The roads are small and they drive on the other side. The cars are small and so is everything else. We went to Buckingham Palace, Parliament, everywhere. If I had it to do over I would stay the entire 9 days in London.

I will post the pix in the next post.

Thanks to everyone that answered all my questions it made going there and being in both contries that much easier.

Next stop, Amsterdam, Greece and Italy.

Re: A FEW PIX FROM MY LONDON/PARIS TRIP

This is my GF and I getting out of the London underground - Watch the Gap They call it underground for a reason. They are so small and so far down underground, being claustrophobic and all I could not wait to get out.

Me outside the Bridal Registry at Harrods

My GF and I just getting off the Tour of London

Me at my corporate office in London, I went to visit my co-workers out of the London office

Me posing by the old phone booths

Me hopping off the big red bus

Me outside our London Office

Me acting silly in the phone booth

Me after a hard day of shopping at Harrods All that I could afford was cookies and candies

I will be back with more

Re: A FEW PIX FROM MY LONDON/PARIS TRIP

Liz, I just think they are very anti- American and once they hear you don't speaka the French they are very short. They eat and just threw their garbage in the street, I was so shocked. My GF and I kept walking with our junk for hours trying to find a garbage can to dump it in. I think its nice to have the experience to see the place etc, but I would not stay there for long

hmm, I gotta get myself to London. Sorry you had a bad experience in Paris - I've been twice and never had a problem with people being rude.

Great pics! My DH travels to London often and he loves it. I have the cutest Harrod teddy bear from that store....
the London Subway sounds like the ones in DC - talk about clausterphobic. You take an escalator down for what feels like forever - it's very scary!

That's too bad about Paris - but I have heard some aren't the friendliest. I wonder if it's worse lately with all the recent political issues going on between the US and France?

I visited Greece in '97 - it was amazing! Such nice friendly people, and soooo incredibly laid back!

Lisa, I met some nice people of course, I should not paint the Parisians like they were all mean. I just did not have as great a time there as I did in London, it just felt warmer there. I could have stayed for 9 more days there. I don't know if I just built myself up and the expectation felt short. I was bored after day 1

The pics look great girl. Did you buy one of harrods bag? They are really great to carry books and stuff. Mom bought me and Denise one the last time she went to London, and I still use it.

Sorry you didn't enjoy Paris. Did you go on the bicycle tour?

Why for the life of me I cannot remember what the heck this is

The Eiffel Tower from a distance

These pix makes it look as if it was cloudy and dreary, the weather was down right lovely while I was there

The infamous River Seine

Arc De Triomphe

Me under the Eiffel Tower

We did not need jackets while we were there

One trip I wanted to take was to Versailles, but we arrived too late and it is practically an entire day and the next day we had other plans

Walking down the Champ Elyesses

On the upstairs/downstairs bus in london

Even on my vacation I cannot stay away from LIW

I don't remember what this is, all I remember is that it was at that infamous square

Harrods at night

On the tour of London

Me by little Ben

The infamous square again

The Eiffel tower a view from across the river

Why did I take so many pix of this darn square that I cannot remember the name of

The Louvre, too overwhelming

They should rename paris the city of museums

Your pictures look great! I am glad you enjoyd London so much!! It's on my short list of must visit places.

I am sorry about Paris, I have heard that before and I guess with some Americans talking about boycotting anything french b/c they are not supporting us will only intensify the negative feelings about us.

Re: A FEW PIX FROM MY LONDON/PARIS TRIP

Nats, I did not get any of the bags, I got Toffee, and candy and cookies, my GF got a bag tho' I will be going back so there will be many more chances to get bags

Terri, I saw the bears in the store

Anna, you know me, I might the best of every situation. If I did not laugh I might have cried. I think my GF who is a shopaholic was sad b/c we could not afford anything. Our $$$ was so little in comparison to theirs

Roger made out well, I got him some Lovely shirts and ties from down on Picadilly Circus, the selection of men's shops is out of this world.

Lisa I ate a big crepe by myself with a hot cocoa sitting on a bench and I did think of you, I remembered that. I did not drink any soda while I was there. Everyone seem to eat sandwhiches as they were walking. Eating on the run...so not me.

Overall I had a grand time. Nats, we could not do the tour after all that walking, my GF said she was in too much pain to pedal for 4 hours.
