Hey girls...I ran in a 15K yesterday for Colon Cancer in Central Park and logged my best time ever! I finished in 1 hour 26 minutes...I averaged a 9:17 minute mile! I shaved a minute of my mile since I started running long distances last year. I have to say that it was very hard and I am so sore now but am proud of this achievement. I really want to run a full marathon this year (preferably NYC) and it is one of my new years resolutions / goals.
Any other runners on here?

good for you! You should be proud, that's not an easy thing to do. I really want to start running but have no idea how to start. My track counselor in 4th grade told me I'm a great runner, I don't know if that counts.

Congrats Jen! That's a great pace! I'm a runner (and racewalker.....I know, laugh now) but have been out with my back injury for a year and half. One of the last races I did was the LI half marathon and it feels so good to get those long races under your belt. Now that you've raced that distance, the next one you'll do even better.

Thanks girls! I was never a runner until last year (but always worked out, etc) - anyway it is amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it and take the time to train. I have done 2 half marathon's, a 10 mile race and a 15K (9.3 miles). It is actually easier than you think to build to these distances and I highly recommend trying it! It is such a great accomplishment! I also joined a running team and go on my long runs with them every Saturday which has been quite motivating!
