A new personal record

Original post by Jenn04

Hey girls...I ran in a 15K yesterday for Colon Cancer in Central Park and logged my best time ever! I finished in 1 hour 26 minutes...I averaged a 9:17 minute mile! I shaved a minute of my mile since I started running long distances last year. I have to say that it was very hard and I am so sore now but am proud of this achievement. I really want to run a full marathon this year (preferably NYC) and it is one of my new years resolutions / goals.

Any other runners on here?

Congrats Jen! That's a great pace! I'm a runner (and racewalker.....I know, laugh now) but have been out with my back injury for a year and half. One of the last races I did was the LI half marathon and it feels so good to get those long races under your belt. Now that you've raced that distance, the next one you'll do even better.

I used to racewalk too! LOL! Only for a year and I wasnt very good!

Anyway sorry about your injury I am doing the LI half this year and cant wait!

Haha!!!!! There IS someone else out there! It's so funny looking but for whatever reason I'm (well was) really good at it...did you do it in high school?

good for you! You should be proud, that's not an easy thing to do. I really want to start running but have no idea how to start. My track counselor in 4th grade told me I'm a great runner, I don't know if that counts.

check out NYRR classes. they are in central park, and start at beginner levels. that's how I started.

that time is AMAZING!

i ran two half marathons in 2007 but haven't since i started school I really want to get back into it now that the weather is getting nicer (except today) but I'm not sure I can motivate while i'm still in school. I signed up for the san fran 1/2 lottery so if i get in that will be ultimate motivation.

congrats! is your running group in NYC?

Congrats!!!! That's amazing. I'm a runner too, and I'm down to a 10 min mile and 4 miles at a time. I would love to join a group, where is yours? I did NYRR in the past but it's in the city and that's not convenient for me since I was laid off.
