Absolutely silly question...

Do married men have to change their status to 'married' or is this something that they change over time i.e. filling out new forms etc etc????

DH went to the car insurance and said he was married and his rpemiums just went down, and he's telling work as well, so emergency information can be changed to me and not his parent's, etc.
