Lately, Ive been seeing a running theme in the tone of our 'complaint' threads. A lot of it seems to have to do with sense of community we feel on these boards.
I know it used to be very strong. The membership was smaller and we all 'knew' each other. With the membership expanding, I think it gets really difficult to keep track of everyone. And as a result, I personally feel like we may be losing something really great.
In any case, I was hoping we could brainstorm ways to get that warm and fuzzy feeling back - at least on the NW board if no where else.
I think GTGs are one way. We had a really sucessful one last month and hopefully we will have another one by the end of summer.
Anyone else have some positive suggestions on how we can do this?
(Or if Im way off base and Im the only one feeling this...tell me Im crazy and to shut up )

Marni - sorry you feel like you're being ignored. I didn't respond cause I figure by now everyone knows I'm in SF and can't make GTGs. I WISH I could be there!

Warning, do not go to Marni's GTG she is not normal, she told me she loved me and she gave me a gift for my b-day and she never even met me in person, i do not think that sort of behavior is normal of the average individual But if anyone wants to chance it, let me know, I will go with you, i am supposed to be taking frozen water

I would love a sense of community on the boards and like Shamme (I think) said t hose people who want to feel a sense of community on the boards will. The only people who I don't feel it with are those people who fail to acknowledge my existance.

I would like to add that there are quite a few people here that I would like to learn more about. I can just be shy at times and do not know how to open that door of communication.

I would love to feel more a part of this community. I have always felt a little weird being here because I am a lot older than most of the ladies here and I think more because while most of you are TTC I am so done with all that!!! Horray for me!! So I don't attend GTG's etc., because in all honesty I am not sure how I will be received or if I will fit in with the rest of the group. Lest you think it is all in my head, I was once sent a FM telling me that I should not be posting here because I was too old!! Ouch..that hurt. Whatever we can all do to include everyone would be wonderful.

Wendy I once got mean mail saying I should not post because I live in Florida...so don't sweat it, sometimes people can just be mean. I know that I can never attend the gtg's because I live so far away but I would not recieve you any differently than I would receive anyone else. I belive most of the girls here are the same. How old are your children?

I LOVE the sense of community that we have on this side!!!! I am always up for a GTG. I invite people to my house almost everyday to go swimming (right Jenn? ). and that invite is lways on the table
marni - please don't feel ignored - I will be at your house n the 18th. I will even help you set up!
Wendy and DLWDLG - I will track down and beat whomever sent you those FMs
