age of getting preggo vent

So, I was at lunch today and a coworker commented on my age and when I am gonna get preggo. I am turning 31 and I have only been married not even a year. He said after 35 there is a 50% chance of birth defects. I was like well then ill be fine with just having my pets. He is my friend but, I mean seriously that is just rude.

There's a chance of anything at any age. Don't listen to him, that was rude. Just ignore stupid comments like that.

I don't know why men even feel they have to get involved in a pregnancy conversation.

My mom had me when she was 34 and I'm normal and happy.

i'm in the same boat and everyones comments are getting really annoying....just have to do what's best for us and listen to ourselves! there is nothing wrong with waiting for our moment!!

I just hate the question in general. This weekend we were at my nephew's communion and a woman (who I barely know) said...'so when are you going to have little ones running around on the dance floor?' So I said not anytime soon...and her response was 'that's a shame'

Who friggin says that???

I think that should be one of the Don't ask questions, right up there with asking a woman if she is pregnant.

my sister had her 3rd baby at 40 and her and baby are fine and healthy......

i tell people not anytime soon and the usual response....

ugh, that IS rude. It's none of his business and he shouldn't worry you like that (about stupid birth defects & such). Horrible. No woman should have that in her head.

wow thats extremely RUDE!!! and theres a chance of anything at any age.. im 23 and am having issues right now as we speak with my pregnancy and the possibilitiy that theres something 'wrong' with my baby... am i worried yes.. and one doctor actually BLEW OFF the test results because it must be false positive because 'your so young' ... Tell him to mind his own business!

I agree. When men get a uterus and a period, then they can discuss female reproduction.

My mom was 34 when I was born, 36 with my sister.
DH's mom was 37.
Three of my friends have had their first children at the age of 40, and all three babies are fine.

hahahahaha, i thought the same thing but then reconsidered saying anything until you did.

I think it's a rude thing to say coming from anyone except my doctor.
I get the other side....'Oh so what you are 42, people have babies much older now - don't worry you can have a baby' ummmmm I don't want a baby but thanks anyway.

I would have replied, 'Oh, so I guess your mom had you when SHE was over 35?'
