Am I crazy?????

Ya know how the say how NY weddings are just SO EXPENSIVE and ridiculous...WELL I beg to differ....my poor friend in MD has been sending me her pricing plans and what you get for your money in MD compared to NY....... OH MY GOD........

ok....for example...this one place...beautiful....here is the breakdown

must have a min. price of $12,000 on food & beverage plus a 2,000 rental fee...the 'elegant affair menu' however includes the following:

premium bar (same as everywhere)

Cocktail Hour:
2 choices of carving station
3 passed Hors’doeuvre

Dinner:
soup or salad
and a choice of ONE ENTREE

coffee/tea ...chocolate covered strawberries(no wedding cake)

now total that...14,000...that's 112 pp (inviting 125) and she doesn't get anything for her money....(this also doesn't include tax or gratuity)

Am I missing something here?????????


I had:

Cocktail Hour:
mine just came w/ cheese and fruit
8 choices of cocktail hour food
4 chafing dishes
2 carving stations
2 pasta stations
raw bar

Dinner:
Appetizer
Salad
Intermezzo
Guest choice of 3 entrees

Viennesse Hour & Wedding Cake

& my pp was like 3 dollars more then that?????

NY weddings are NOT anymore expensive then other states....we may GO BIG but my lord!!!! I feel horrible for her....

she totally needs to negotiate. They always start out with high prices.
I had a NYC wedding, and if I went with the original price they gave me, I never would have been able to afford it.
ITS ALL NEGOTIABLE.....She needs to ask them to take that price and include the open bar with it, along with the cake, cocktail hour, etc........
if they don't negotiate, she walks.
Its all negotiable. If she is getting married in an off month (no May/June/October) she is in a better position to negotiate. They need to fill the date after all!

But that's it for either choice of menus...I don't know how you negotiate if they don't have anything else to choose from lol

there is the 'evening reception menu' or 'elegant affair menu'.......

another one of her selections gave her a price breakdown of pp for cocktail hour food???? I'm so confused....

Wow that menu is limited and it is so expensive!! Maybe LI is not as bad as people make it out to be. Oh and since she is out of NY she will most likely not be getting monetary gifts to help her pay off her debts after paying for that

you know what, it's true, you get so much for your money here, mainly in LI.

I happen to think its because LI is a wedding factory, so each hall competes to offer the best packages.

your dollar streches a lot further here in LI.
