My photographer gave my proofs to my dad and not to me! I live in Boston and my dad is local, so he brought them to him rather than shipping them to me. My dad showed them to everyone in his office and wants to hold onto them for a few days to show his wife! I think this is totally ridiculous - I haven't seen any pictures from my wedding and 10 other people shouldn't be looking at them before me. Now my dad is mad at me for getting mad about this. What do you guys think?

YES! I specifically asked him because I knew he would do this. he is sort of a friend of my dad and my dad paid for them, so I knew he would bring them to him. BUT -- I didn't think my dad would show them to the world and delay sending them to me.

Did the photographer get your permission to give the proofs to your father? I think they should have been shipped directly to you - you were the customer and you paid them to deliver a product to YOU and they haven't done this yet.
And I would be upset if someone was going around showing my pics to other people before I got to see them.
So no, I don't think you are over reacting

Thank you for that. I suppose the one glitch is that he considers my dad to be his customer since my dad paid for them. I think this is irrelevant - they are MY pictures and it was MY wedding and the photographer and my dad should understand this!

I agree. I am sure your father meant no harm, but he should have been sensitive to your feelings when you expressed them.
When is he sending them to you??

My dad is not really the sensitive type - he just gets angry, and now he is angry at me for making 'such a big deal?' He brought them back to the photographer and they are sending them out to me this afternoon. Now I feel guilty - I just can't win!

My parents paid for my photography so on final payment they took my proofs. My mom didn't want them sent through the mail, she never let them leave the house though anyone who wanted to see them came to their house and then about 10 days later she flew down to FLorida with them.
I knew they were in good hands so I was fine with it.
I was kinda pissed when my album was done and my mom had it and all her friends were telling me how nice it was and I had to wait for her to fly down with it (about 10 days)
But I planned a Long island wedding and moved shortly afterwards, I felt safer having them hand delievered by my mother rather then the mailman. My college diploma got fedex and it got wrecked in the mail I wouldn't have wanted that to happen to my proofs or my album.
It's a pain doing things out of state, but its not like you can't drive down to get them within 5-6 hours or fly the USAIR shuttle, I don't see what the huge deal is, if it is bothering you go and get your proofs don't wait for him to mail them!

There's so much else going on here - he wants to show them to his wife (my stepmother) and there is no love lost there. Plus, I would probably feel the same way if my mom had them (in good hands), but my dad is not that responsible and has been known to lose things and definitley wouldn't watch them like a hawk like your mom did. Basically, I don't trust my stepmother with them and I don't know what woul dhappen to them between now and when I get them.

I'd be VERY upset!! but with my DAD!! My father would never do such a thing, but if I were you, I'd be upset if he refused to send them to me..

That's its probably real good your photographer is mailing them for you and not your dad!

No way are you overreacting...I would be livid if someone else (other than DH) got to see our proofs first...and then proceeded to show them to other people.
I feel that your proofs are meant for you and your DH to share first...sorry that your Dad this this you.
