Am I the only one that thinks that the wedding photojournalistic photography has gotten a little out of hand?

Original post by melbalalala

Time for me to put my foot in my mouth once again.

Everyone on this board goes GA-GA over certain photographers and their engagement shots, wedding shots and day after shots...

I look at these pics, which are brought up on a weekly basis and I think

They seem to get weirder, a little more erotic and less wedding-y as the months go by?

WHAT would I do with pics of me and DH frolicking in the forest in our wedding clothes? Or Epics of us with our eyes closed lying on top of each other?

What do you do with these kinds of shots?
Would I hang them in my house? Im pretty sure my friends would make fun of me. Would it be a special little album that we look at together to relive the memory? Seems like a waste.

I am all for the sentimental, cute photojournalistic shots.. some of them are my favorite wedding pics that I have... but I feel like things are getting weird! Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who hasn't seen nudie wedding pics?? or that disagrees haha

I like PJ pics....I think they are beautiful, I wish I had more of them.

I think everyone likes what they like....you might not like them but it doesn't mean that someone else's pics are useless and unable to show their kids when they're older. It's what kind of photography they like. You say frolicking in the forest or laying on top of eachother with there eyes closed almost as if you make fun of someone's pictures, which I think is unfair just b/c you don't like them.....I can picture a few brides on this site that have these pics and I think they're gorgeous and I would totally hang them up in my house....I don't think my friends would ever make fun of them.

I have to disagree here

I don't dislike them... In fact, if I saw them in a magazine I would think oh, pretty girl.. or oh, nice dress, cool photography.

I definitely believe in different strokes for different folks...

That being said...there comes a point where it goes from artsy and reflections of wedding romance to almost silly and ridiculous. (see examples in Future Mrs. post above) I would expect my friends to make fun of them if I put them up.... in a loving 'putting me in my place these are a little ridicuolous why there a photo of your husband in the fetal position in a tuxedo on your wall' kind of way.

I just think alot of brides are trying to hard to look like a Brides magazine photo shoot.

Just bored at work and finally catching up with LIW....

Exactly....two each it's own. I don't want you to think that my response was a 'hated rage' but just my opinion.....

I love em'....you don't enjoy em'.....oh well!!!

As far as nudie pics.....hell no would you catch my *** posing for those!!!

p.s. I was FMd to check out the BHB posting....I see where this is stemming from now!

oh GOD!! I, in no way, never meant to imply you wrote in a hated rage!!

I was giving april props because sometimes, when you think people are posting about you, one tends to get really defensive and nasty.

I really wasnt referring to anyone specific... just a general thought that came to my head.

oh Ok, just checking. Sometimes written words can be misconstrued.

ETA: I checked out the BHB posting as well- I thought those pics were gorgeous!!! The 'bend me over by the sign' is a little much for me- but that looks more posed more than anything.

(NO posing to make it look like it was caught in the moment, but actually catching us in the moment)

I completely agree with this. too many people are staging pics to look 'non-staged'.

It took me a minute to think about what everyone was referring to with this BHB posting.. then I remembered someone posted Blue daisy pics this morning and there were mixed feelings from everyone.

Im not opposed to even some slutty pics. I got down and nasty with my photog and took a few of the traditional 'holding my boobies while getting in my dress pics' for DH to enjoy.

And we all looveee PJ shots to capture our day.

I just think that some people are starting to go overboard with quantity and weirdness of their PJ pics. I know I wish I had a few more portrait-like pics of us to hang on the wall and less of us 'walking away from the camera and looking in love pics'. I cant imagine having 95% of my pictures involving us contorting our bodies around various branches, poles, and each others groins but that's just the old fart in me I guess!

That is a good call!! I have one of a BM in an 'oops you caught me buttoning up the brides dress' while we were getting ready... meanwhile it was actually a zipper back.

LMAO

It's so true!! Those people are going to look back in 40 years and be like, why were we in a forest?!

I agree, I think some are just far out there as 'wedding pics' but some are beautiful. I guess it depends on how far you are willing to go

I glad someone mention this. Now don't get me wrong I told my photographer to do about 90% of pj to capture my emotions and feelings and just to show how the day went.

So much is looking Fake in my opinion. But to each is own.
