Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

Be careful of your bar bill. Last cruise I went on (7 day cruise) our bill was $900 at the end of the week. That is with bringing 2 bottles with us!!

The bar bill is the worst. Just keep tabs on it during the week to make sure it's not getting out of hand. What cruise line are you cruising with? If it's Norwegian, definitely check out the specialty restaurants.

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

If you go on excursions get to the 'meeting place' early. The later you go, the later you get out, and the shorter your trip.

They might have 5 busses for your excursion. It SUCKS to be on the last bus.

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

I'm going on my first cruise in a few months as well, on Royal Caribbean.

I got a lot of good info from another cruise board,

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

I though cruises were all inclusive. They don't have an open bar on the boat?

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

check your cruiseline for what alcohol you CAN bring!!! most cruises ALLOW some wine for dinner (they charge a corking fee if you bring it to dinner...but the corking fee is still less than buying wine at dinner. also, you can just open the bottle in your room to avoid the fee if you want, lol)

do not try to sneak on real alcohol in the actual bottle in your carry on. it will get taken. be smart and put it in your luggage

if you do order a bottle of wine at dinner, you dont NEED to finish it that night. they will keep the bottle for you with your name for the next night

order room service! its part of the cruise fee, and its just nice to get room service for breakfast and avoid the mob!!!

also to avoid the mob of ppl wanting to get lunch and breakfast (LONG buffet lines!!), the restaurants (at lease 1) is usually open for sit-down service. def worth checking it out!

buy liquor on board to take home! prices are great!

It depends on the cruise line, but alcohol is usually extra. Also, Royal Caribbean charges extra (around $6/day) if you want soda (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, etc). Whats all inclusive is meals, entertainment, room & board. Alcohol, excursions, and certain specialty restaurants on the boat are extra.

as far as seasickness..

the lower ur room is , the less likely u are to get sick. ( i have never been seasick..its rare , but possible)

do NOT get wasted to the point where u sleep in. totally ruins ur day.

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

get someone to write a script for scopalamine patches for both you and DH. Even if you don't normall get sea sick. I swear by them and we both use them for every cruise that we go on.

pay attention to your drink tab!

bring a bottle or 2 of alcohol! pour in a cup then order juice/soda and mix!!

spring for the soda card. it's totally worth it, especially if you're going to bring alcohol with you.

haaaavvvveee funnnn!!!!

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

Not worried about the corkage fee...I travel with a corkscrew. Not every bottle will be opened in the dining rooms

Re: Any tips for a cruise virgin?

lol if u sneak them on put them inside of long socks and wrap them inside pant legs.

if they catch u, your luggage will be sent to the 'naughty room' where u will hav to open it infront of a few ships officers. they will take your boooze and return it to u the day before u leave.

no biggie

oh! when u get off the ship to the ports, go to the duty free shops, get boooze and pour it into water bottles. ( i preffer coconut rum, just sayin'!)
