YUP
I was a vegan my 1st year of college & a size 3/4 at almost 5' 9 (but we're not going there for MANY reasons).

I now eat seafood, so that makes me a pescetarian.

Ask away....

I thought vegetarians could eat fish and dairy products???

Was it a hard transition becoming a vegetarian/pescetarian???

Re: Any Vegetarians??

i am but it's cultural so i've never had to 'turn into' a vegeterian. plus, i eat lots of indian food so it's not as hard as it would be for other people.

in h.s., my friend gave all meat, chicken, and fish for lent and then never went back to eat and she only had a hard time with it for the first few months and then loved it.

shoot me any questions u'd like.... and good luck!!!!

There are various types of vegetarians(see below).

Nope because I was able to eat tuna which I .

Total Vegetarians eat only plant food. They do not eat any animal foods, including fish, eggs, dairy products, and honey.

Vegans not only omit all animal products from their diets, but they also eliminate them from the rest of their life. Vegans use nothing from animals, such as leather, wool, and silk.

Lacto-Vegetarians will include dairy products into their diet of plant food.

Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarians eat both eggs and dairy products.

Pesco-Vegetarians include fish into their diets.

Pollo-Vegetarians eat poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck.

Raw vegetarian/vegan - As the name suggests, this is a vegetarian or a vegan who doesn't eat cooked food. Dehydrated foods are often used as a substitute for cooked items, and in the colder months, soups and tea that have been warmed gently are a treat. As long as food is not heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit, it is considered raw. The most common foods in a raw diet are fruits, vegetables, greens, nuts and seeds, and sprouts. Some raw foodists eat soaked and sprouted grains and beans, and some eat raw dairy and eggs.

Fruitarian - A fruitarian is a raw foodist who only eats fruit, greens, and some nuts and seeds.

One trip to Spain to visit my mother's relatives did it for me.

I used to take supplements. Solgar has a great line. I have a lot of years and experience so I no longer require/need supplements. I also see a nutritionist twice, sometimes 3x a year to make sure everything is balanced.

Marie I highly recommend getting a subscription to a magazine called Vegetarian Times.

yeah, dh came to NY in 2001 and never ate meat or chicken but when he started working out, he began eating chicken for protein and he LOVES it. so while he doesnt eat any other types of meat, he still eats chicken.

Thanks for the info- this is all so new to me!! I'm DEF not giving up my eggs (I will only buy free-range) and I might stay with some seafood! I wanna give up chicken but that will be my biggest challenge!! As it is, I rarely ever eat red meat.

Welcome. I gave up everything but chicken & shrimp the 1st month I started. Then again I saw and experienced something that made me . I actually cried the last time I ate chicken. Mom was with me in the kitchen and as I was making my chicken parm I was trying to rationalize why it was ok to have it. Mom thought I was losing it!

I might get flamed for this but I could give 2 or 20 shiiits....be careful with sites like PETA...sometimes these animal rights groups are too over the top.

If you want I can put together a bundle of V.T. mags for ya. I would just need a little time to go through them.
