We just got ours -- we have picture proofs too -- but I am having such a hard time with the darn DVD-CD. Not sure if it's cause there are so many pic on each CD. But it's having a hard time loading on my laptop. Grrr!!!!
When you open the CD it loasds all the pictures as icons but I go to change the view to 'thumbnail' view it spazzs on me.
Maybe it's the DVD-CD??? Anyone good with this sort of stuff? Thanks!

I had one but it worked here and there. My photographer was nice enough to make them on CDs and meet me to give me them. Fantastic

sounds like you have alot of stuff going on within your laptop that it's overloading the memory or processor or whatever it's called. i bet if you put the cd in a brand new computer/laptop, it would work fine.
FH's laptop is pretty new and it took a while for our DVD to switch from icons to thumbnails. my best advice would be to terminate all the unnecessary programs that are running and give it another try

They are usually high-res images that take awhile just sit there and let it load completely... best bet is copy it all to the harddrive then use those... our photog told us this would occur so thats what we did ..

thanks ladies -- I will have to give the DVD-CD another try without any other programs running -- like you said they are high - res and will take a while to load, if not maybe it's the CD and then I'll have to have my photographer replace the discs.
thanks again

Re: Anyone else have a DVD-CD with proofs??
i have one and had a similar problem. my DH managed to open it up and while we couldn't get the individual pictures to load, he split up folders and burned them on a few cds. since there was a lot less on each, they loaded a lot easier! it was a bit of a pain though.

I put mine into the computer and it worked fine. I think it depends how new your computer it.

Re: Anyone else have a DVD-CD with proofs??
As someone else said, it's because they are high res photos so the files sizes are extremely large. In order to post them on here for my review and what not, I had to upload them to a website (Webshots and Shutterfly) and then save them to my computer again from the website so the file sizes would be smaller. It took me days to upload them to the websites.

All our pictures are online. We send the link and password to our family and friends to view it and/or order. In 6 months we're getting all our pictures on a cd in high resolution (its part of our contract - some vendors will not give you all your pictures esp. in high resolution because they want you to go back to them again to print) .

Re: Anyone else have a DVD-CD with proofs??
I too have an old PC with little memory. I was able to copy the DVD pics to the PC but even when reading the ones loaded in the PC I can only open maybe 20 before the computer won't open any more - - I just get a blank screen . so don't be surprised if this happens even after they're on the PC. - - and I don't get thumbnails, just icons. DH has a newer PC from last year and his gerts thumbnails etc just fine. As to shipping things ti shutterfly - - Espo suggested using the microsoft pgm Paint to shrink the pics. this might be easier than sending to shutterfly etc. It takes a while to open the pic but when it's there you click on Image then on stretch/skew and reduce to maybe 50% size both heigth and width. It might prompt you that work area needs to be bigger to handle the photo. click yes. BUT when you have resized the pic go back and resize the qork area or you might have trouble saving new pic since it is working with the original work area padded with white. (took me a long time to realize that one) anyway to resize I put mouse at lower right corner of photo and the pixel location floats for you. click on attributes and key these pixel numbers in for the length and width. when done the dotted line will surround only the photo. So this may be quicker than shutterfly but maybe more of a pain . . but if you don't use those other internet sites this is an option. HTH
