I haven't shopped for appliances at all so I'm just curious what you think the average cost is for stainless steel appliances?
Fridge with ice maker/water
Stove - electric, with flat glass top
Microhood
Dishwasher
And then a new washer and dryer?
I'm trying to think of how much extra we'll need for those things when we get a house - chances are we'll have to purchase all new appliances....

Re: Appliance Help
Not sure because all of mine were included but want to say stoves are $500-1000, not sure about fridges. What kind of washer dryer do you want...top load or front load?

Re: Appliance Help
those things are usually included with a house but if not check out home depot's or p.c. richard's website for an idea of how much they are... i know it depends a lot on the brand etc.

Re: Appliance Help
i've been pricing out everything since we've been in contract. for a SS fridge w/ a bottom freezer, the prices start at around $1500. i'm budgeting $2000 for our fridge. the side by side ones are less $$, but i personally don't care for them.
a range you can get for about $750-$1000, if you want a regular drop in. the slide-ins start at around $1000. i'm hoping DH will go for the slide in!
micro and dishwasher, about $350 for the micro, DW about $500. some will be more, some less. i think that's about average though.
these are all for regular SS appliances. if you want high end, it's quite a bit more. sickening actually.
the washer and dryer we want are about $999 each. actually, i think the dryer is about $899. it's the whirlpool cabrio. BIL has the washer and it's HUGE. toploader, but much bigger than the front loaders. the front loaders look great, but really, who's gonna see them? the affordable front loaders are small, and the large ones are too expensive ($1300 for a washer, i think not!). plus you have to buy a stand for them, or bend all the way down. i've learned to appreciate the toploaders a lot!
can you tell i've done some homework?

yes! you did your homework!
i was figuring about 5K for all of it - but i wasn't sure if that was realistic or not - i want to make sure i consider that factor when it comes to our downpayment and stuff - like we'll need money left for appliances, to furnish, to paint, stuff like that....
i def want new appliances when we get a house - whether the house comes with them or not.....most of the homes we are looking into are pre-forclosure and do not have appliances left in them BUT the homes that we have seen with appliances are NOT the kind we want anyway - i have yet to see a home with all newer stainless steel appliances....
that is going to be my favorite part besides buying the house - is picking out the appliances
thanks for the help!

Re: Appliance Help
Last year we bought a fridge with french doors, freezer drawer on the bottom and water dispenser for $1800 and that's not stainless steel. We have also been looking into a stacked washer/ dryer combo. The ones that we like are $2000 + . I refuse to settle for something I kinda like so we are just going to save $$ till we can afford it.

Re: Appliance Help
depending on what you can get, it can get pricey. SOme fridges are over $2k, i cant remember how much mine was when we bought it a few years ago, but its stainless steel with the ice maker and around that range. SOme stoves can be $2500 if you get like top of the line, but then also in the $1k's range
