i dont know what to make... i saw this i was thinking of.. maybe with some bacon or scrambles eggs?

Eggnog French Toast

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
2 eggs, beaten slightly
1 1/2 cups eggnog
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
12 slices French bread
Add to Recipe Box
My folders:

DIRECTIONS
Whisk the eggs. eggnog, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice together in a mixing bowl until well blended. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish.
Preheat an electric skillet to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Lightly grease the skillet.
Dip one slice of bread at a time into the eggnog mixture, being sure to coat each side of the bread thoroughly.
Place the prepared bread slices into the preheated skillet, and cook, turning once, until golden brown on each side. Place cooked slices on a serving plate and cover with foil to keep warm until all French toast is cooked. Serve immediately.

Re: ARe you and DH making a special christmas..

I hope to!! It's our very first Christmas morning ALONE - usually I go to my mom's and a lot of mornings, he went to his parents' house, and then we got back together again at dinner But this year we are just waking up, having breakfast, opening gifts and then going to his aunt and uncle's for dinner. So I want to make something special - maybe a frittata - but I have to think about it and hopefully I can make some things (bread, etc?) before hand so that I don't spend forever cooking Christmas morning.

** We had this amazing crab frittata on a trip once to Savannah - the trip we got engaged on - so I would love to make something like that for our first married Christmas!

well every weekend i make dh breakfast, i make eggs, and usually he wants it with canadian bacon, cheese and bagels or english muffins so bc of that i want to make something different.

I saw one time this thing on chocolate chip peanut butter pancakes, dh loves anything peanutbutter so might do that. Trying to think of what else, he also loves pancetta so considering that

That's why I am thinking maybe I can make it on Christmas eve if I am at home early, and just pop it in the oven when we get up. Going to look for recipes now!

our tradition since we've been together is to have breakfast alone at a diner. the rest of the day is spent with family, so that's our alone time. however, i think next christmas when we're in our house (and hopefully with a or ) we'll start an at home breakfast tradition.

That's what DH's stepmom makes every year and I love it. We have that and Mimosas. His grandma used to make monkey bread every year too but she passed away in July and so it's the first Christmas without her. I think it would make DH sad so I don't think I should make it but maybe in a few years we can bring back the tradition.

You put the frittata in the oven? My dad always just uses a frying pan.. he'll put potatoes and onions in a pan with oil..once they are soft, he'll just add eggs he scrambled in a bowl with seasoning. Let it sit until it's cooked on the bottom and then use a plate to flip it over in the pan and then cook a few more mins on that side.

Dh & I are going to make pancakes and stuff like that.. Ok, well he's going to make it, but I'll help.

Re: ARe you and DH making a special christmas..

we are sleeping over MIL & FIL's house on xmas eve... so MIL is in charge of that... which i cant say i'm upset about b/c better her than me going crazy to make an 8 course breakfast meal lol

i'm excited tho b/c sleeping @ DH's parents house is a HUGE tradition in his family... DH, BIL, M&FL, DH's 3 cousins as well as his aunt and uncle ALL sleep over and open presents in the AM.. then they eat a HUGE breakfast and do sand art lol so i'm excited to share in the tradition

We always go OOT and stay with MIL so she's in charge of breakfast although all those recipes sound great!! Its just the three of us on Christmas morning and then we'll see the rest of DH's family during the day. I want us to start making family traditions though, DH's family doesnt really do anything like that so we'll have to start some of our own. I think it will be easier one day when there are kids around but thats in the distant future at this point.

This is such a nice idea. Hopefully next year we can start a breakfast tradition. This year is hard for my mom, so we are spending the entire day traveling back and forth between his family and mine.

Most of the recipes I saw online required it to be put in the oven for 25-30 mins. Not too long. It will take that long to make bacon so I will probably just make it in the AM. Some were in the pan only, though.

Last year we had our families over for breakfast Christmas morning and I made pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, and ham steaks then we all opened presents under our tree.

it was really nice to have everyone over at our home.

this Christmas we're doing it again!!! i'm so excited to use my fine china this year!!!

I'm thinking about making chocolate chip pancakes. I wish I had a crepe machine...I'd love to make chocolate and banana crepes!

We get DD coffee on the way to his parents.

We seriously eat soooooooo much on Christmas Even and then Again Christmas Day that neither of us are really looking for breakfast (and I am not big on breakfast to begin with). Maybe to be nice I will make him some pancakes but nothing crazy!
