Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

Just wondering because we are - I'm Mon-Fri 9-5 and he's nights and weekends. Our date night is Tuesdays. Does anyone else go through this? I sometimes wish we could do our errands and he could come with me to parties, etc on the weekends like other couples.

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

M-F 8am-5pm and DH is retail, so some days it's 9-5/6, some days it's 1-10pm, always a Sat. shift but he'll get 3 out of 4 Sundays a month off and that is our only day together

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

My DH's schedule rotates all the time. He works 7 straight days of 12-8am then a couple of days off & 7 straight days of 4pm -midnight then a few days off then 6 days of 8-4pm starting on a Saturday then a 3 day weekend then 2 weeks of M-F 8-4 (ahhhhhhhh, some normalcy) Now did you all follow that?.....lol

I hate this schedule. He got forced back onto them just a few months before our wedding!

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

yes, I work a regular 8-5 job. His firehouse schedule rotates on 24 hour shifts. So some days I don't see him at all...like today. It is harder on the weekends when he is not around. But we have adjusted. I like having some alone time

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

We are pretty close. I got to work around 7:30 and he leaves at 8 something. I get home anywhere from 4-6:30 and he gets home at 6:30-7:00. I feel really lucky. We eat dinner together every night! Both have weekends off.

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

I work 7:20am to 2:30pm. I leave the house at 6:00 am. He works 2:00 in the afternoon to 12:00 in the morning. Sometimes, he goes to bed when I'm getting up to shower for work! We do have the weekends together, unless they ask him to cover a shift. We touch base every day on the phone while he is at work. It works out for us actually. We both get time alone and time together.

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

I am out the door by 6:40am and I get home on average around 4:30. He leave for work at 12pm and gets home around midnight. I am dead asleep by then. We are both off weekends. I also have the summers and a ton of vacations. It was very hard on me at first, being alone so much but I have grown to love the alone time, time to unwind by myself.

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

Depends on what time of the year it is. I work every day and I'm out of the house generally from 6:30am to 6:30pm.

David is a musician, so he works usually every Thursday-Saturday nights at local bars with his cover band and his cafe acoustic gigs. He'll leave at 9pm, and get home anywhere from 3am-5am. He also teaches at a local college an works in their offices, so that is usually a 9-5 thing during the school semesters. His third job is a free lance editor for publishing companies before music goes to print or to an orchestra for a concert.

Sometimes I go with him to a gig, and some nights I'm home alone. I don't mind since I can clean the bathroom and things like that when he's not around so that when he is around we can spend time together.

Re: Are you and DH on different work days/hours?

dh works evening and I work 12 hr shifts on nights. Even though we work in the same place it's still difficult when we don't see each other for the 3 nights that I work. He plans on going to days soon. I want to get a day job also when I get pregnant. It makes us look forward to seeing each other even more.
