Best slowcooker recipes...whatcha got

So this Saturday I plan on doing some cleaning, laundry and decorating around the house. We got a slow cooker for my shower but haven't used it yet. Figured this Saturday would be the best time to test it out. Anyone have any recipes for something yummy??

Re: Best slowcooker recipes...whatcha got

Buy chicken and your favorite BBQ sauce.

Combine the 2 in slow cooker and cook for as long as you want.

BEST BBQ CHICKEN EVER

I also did this with ribs once. JUST WOW.

Everything just falls apart and melts in your mouth.

I recommend Famous Daves BBQ sauce. It's really tasty and it has a little kick!

Re: Best slowcooker recipes...whatcha got

I made pot roast the other day...

3lb roast
5 or 6 potatos cut into chunks
1/2 cup carrots
2 celery stalks
3 beef boullion cubes
1/2 cup water....

4-5 hrs on high or 6-8 hrs on low...

at about the 5th hour i put a jar of beef gravy in it too.. otherwise the the gravy would have been really really watery and just not enough for my liking lol

Re: Best slowcooker recipes...whatcha got

Put in the slow cooker:

about 1 1/2 lbs of cubed chuck
baby red potatoes (halved) - abt a pound
2 medium onions - quartered
a small bag of baby carrots
a container of crimini mushrooms - halved
salt and pepper
1 spring of rosemary
2 springs of thyme
a bottle of red wine
and finish with beef stock to cover everything...

set for about 6 hrs on high

(if you want a thicker sauce - about 30 min before serving, add in a slurry of cornstarch and water)

I figured I'd give it a shot while I'm home for most of the day. DH tells me that we can let it cook while we're at work on a very low heat but I'm scared to leave it on while we're not there.

I know you said cook as long as you want...but how long do you recommend cooking for?

This sounds awesome...but I've never used a slow cooker before and I'm afraid I might burn the house down lol

Re: Best slowcooker recipes...whatcha got

boston butt
canned french onion soup
cream of mushroom soup
jar of brown gravy

add all in crockpot .. slow cook on high for 8-9 hrs until fork easily shreds the meat ...

cut the strings, remove all fat and shred meat with fork .. to thicken up sauce in crockpot you can add a little flour. After meat is shredded I put mashed potatoes in a plate place meat on top and add some sauce on it .. SO good!

I believe it was a tenderloin... but i cant be sure... i made it on Sunday so i dont remember

The recepie calls for baby carrots but i used regular carrots and cut them...

and yes the celery should be cut into approximately 1' pieces...

I just set it on how long I want to wait to eat it LOL
I guess it would work best on 8 or 10 hours, but i've definitely done it on 4 and 6 hours and it's still delicious!
