Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

Okay, I REALLY want to do this but every time I try I chicken out. The one time I came close and had them do more, I was swollen for like 2 days and I bled! Needless to say I am willing to try again but am wondering the time-line. I am going to a reputable salon this time but need to know which day would be best to do this. Here is the timeline so far:

Thursday
- water journey and massage at 12:30
- nails done at 3:00
- rehearsal at 6:45
- RD at 8:00

Friday - the wedding day

Saturday - drive back to Jersey to pack for Hawaii

Sunday AM - fly to Hawaii

Sooo, couple questions - would it be better to get this out of the way Wednesday evening and risk it growing back in during the honeymoon? Or should I try to squeeze it in on Saturday somewhere? I don't care about having it for wedding night as I am sure we will both be to tired. Can't do Thursday b/c I don't want to ruin my relax time....

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

Hey Laura!

I had mine done the day before the wedding, and I was fine all through the HM (although we were only on the beach the first week - the second week we were running around in New Zealand). But I've never had bleeding, etc. Don't know where you're based on LI, but I got mine done at the Elizabeth Arden Salon in the Walt Whitman Mall Saks - they were extremely nice and professional there.

PS - be sure to eat lots of dessert at the Carlyle! We didn't get to have any because we got stuck on the goodbye line (the bridal attendant had brought out one of everything for us, but since they assumed we were busy, our siblings ate it all!), and that's my one regret about the day, since everyone kept telling me how amazing the desserts were!

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

Advice on the waxing thing.... Take 2 advil about 1 hour before and it won't hurt so much. I promise. It was a trick someone told me and it totally worked.

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

I would wax 2 days before the wedding - I did similar and was fine for the duration of my trip to Hawaii. But my bikin waxes tend to last about 2 weeks normally. I know once I went the day before my vacation and had an unusual bad reaction and had to wear shorts for the first 2 days of my trip - it wa so sensitive to the sun...so you don't want that for the honeymoon either.

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

I did it 2 days before the wedding....and had no problems!

I don't think the day after your wedding you are going to want to think about waxing. Instead think about the magical day that just happened and the amazing HM you have ahead of you.

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

To be honest, I'd wait until you get to Hawaii, or not bother at all.

If you bleed or get swollen again like the last time you'll be uncomfortable on the plane. Plus with air pressure I don't kow how that would affect the swelling on the plane.

What island are you going on your honeymoon? There are good spas in HI and while it may cost more, I'd feel better getting it done there rather risk flying and feeling uncomfortable.

Same with day before - last thing you want is for swelling or any uncomfortable feeling afterwards and beofre the wedding.

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

i don't think it's a problem to do it on Wed. I get very swollen after too. I find that a cool shower after helps the swelling. Also - Duane Read sells bikini zone that you can use (but only externally!!!!)
Good luck!

Re: Bikini/Almost Brazilian Waxing

I would do it 2 days before your wedding. I did it the day before. I would of done it 2 days before but aunt flow was visiting.

They say the most painful time to wax is right before Aunt Flow and Right after. I have had several bikini waxes before without a problem but never near my period and I have to tell you...........OUCH!!!!! I wanted the woman to stop but the she kept saying ...we're almost done. I have a high tolerance for pain but boy, I never experienced such pain.
