hi ladies.. so i started BC last week for a couple of reasons: apparently i am very fertile right now and we are def not ready for another baby yet.
i haven't been on BC for about 5 years. i really don't like it. i don't like the way it makes me feel. i have felt like PURE CRAP for the past week and a half.
did anybody else feel like this when the started BC? i feel miserable and i don't want to be on it anymore.

Re: birth control...
I felt that way when I took loestrin but not when i took ortho tricyclin low. I had to switch off of that because i was spotting but i definitely felt fine on that one!!
Can they give you a different one? What are you on?

Re: birth control...
I never had a problem with the pill but many women do. Have you considered an IUD? I had to stop taking the pill due to migraine headaches and at first I was really nervous about the IUD but 2 years later I can say it is the best BC decision I ever made. No extra hormones and no remembering to take a pill every day.

I feel like I have tried them all.... Most of them it took me a few months to adjust to it before I stopped feeling like cr@p. I absolutely hated seasonique (whatever thats called) and the Nuva Ring. The last kind i took was Yaz and that seemed to work the best for me.

Re: birth control...
when i first started bc i had every symptom in the book! it was really bad, prob bad to the point where i should have stopped taking it...but i just though that my body had to get use to it and eventually i did but sooo horrible at first,
i had blurry vision, head aches, i developed carple tunnel in my left hand...i though i needed glasses cuz my eyes wouldnt focus...took bout 3 months for all those symptoms to go away!
im soo use to it now, im nervous to go off of it, because i kinda enjoy that i only get my period for 3 days and its barely there when i do have it, my cramps are not bad, and my pms symptoms are not that bad...so i might be going crazy when i go off! lol cant win either way!

Re: birth control...
I am the same way it makes me feel awful, my cousin has the exact same problem. Before TTC I was charting and avoiding fertile times, it worked well. Now though once is born I am going to be in the same boat as you. I don't feel comfortable just charting b/c I don't want to get pregnant right away. I really don't want to take anything with hormones so I am going to look into paraguard the IUD. It kinda freaks me out, but I am going to do some more research on it. I know my cousin has been using nuvaring for awhile now, and said it hasn't bothered her at all. So if anything I might try that b/c our systems are so similar, same allergies, everything. Hang in there sweetie you will find something that works for you.

same here, I had to switch off the last pill I was on for a number of reasons and I have felt like crap for the last three months. I am just starting to feel better and drop the weight.

Re: birth control...
Do you not like the way it makes you feel physically or emotionally? I would talk to your doctor about it. When I was on BCPs I was a lunatic (my mood swings actually made me think I was Bipolar). And when I talked to my GP about it, she said that some girls just have that reaction (usually it has to do with genetics and if mental health issues run in your family. On my mom's side there are quite a few people who have anxiety, depression, or are Bipolar; so this was totally true form me and she actually had the same problem). She said usually when that's the case no birth control you can be on will not make you feel like that and that depending on how long you want to wait until your next child an IUD might be your best bet. If it's just physical problems, your doctor should be able to recommend something that won't have as many side effects.
Good luck!

Re: birth control...
I have been on it for 10 years. The first brand I tried (I don't think they make it anymore) made me very nauseus so I have been on Ortho for most of the 10 years and did not have a problem. Recently the doctor switched me to Ortho-lo I like it much better I am not as moody (I did not realize the higher dosage made me moody). Speak to your doctor see what they recommend.

Re: birth control...
I've been on a few pills, but they never really worked. I've been on nuvaring for a few years now & I love it. The only thing is, like clock work, on the Sunday before I'm due for it, I'm an emotional wreck.

Re: birth control...
I had issues with any pill that had estrogen in them because I would get Migraines. I would take the progesterone only pills. i always had mid cycle bleeding and then I asked about the Depo shot and they wouldnt recommend it cause it causes weight gain....more than any other BC.
I tried the ring and hated it....never stayed in place.
So we decided to just use condoms...not DH's favorite but yeah it worked for the time....now we are TTC so we use nothing.
