Birth control question

this upcoming January I will have been on the pill for 5 years, we are not ready to have kids yet. Although I am prepared to go off it and use other forms of BC.
But I used to hear horror stories about being on the pill to long can damage you in the long run. Is there any truth to this

Re: Birth control question

I work in ob/gyn and there is no truth to that fact i've been on birth control pills x 10 years and not stopping anytime soon. BCP actually ahve a protective effect in regards to ovarian and uterine cancer.

of course talk to you ob.gyn about other options b/c now there are so many choices
good luck

Re: Birth control question

I started the pill at 17 years old and I just went off it for good at 26....no ill effects except that my cycle is a few days longer.
