Re: Bridal Shower question
Well, you're obviously more creative than me, but I keep imagining wooden spoons and forks and cookie cutters and aprons...you could go somewhere like Target or WalMart and pick up some inexpesive accessories. Rolling pins, maybe with a recipe tied to it as a favor???

Re: Bridal Shower question
I have to think about it some more, maybe I can come up with something. But assuming I will have about 8 tables and I need a lot of stuff to make a good looking centerpiece..the cooking thing could get out of hand expensive real fast. But maybe there are other ways to make it work. Thanks Jenny.Anyone else have some ideas? Or some things that you have heard / seen about?

Re: Bridal Shower question
If you want to do the cooking theme...you can make the centerpieces also the favors! get a nice size terra cotta pot, put some green styrofome in it, then get wooden spoons, or spatulas or slotted spoons (at the $1 store) wrap a pretty ribbon around them and stick them in the pot. They will look like flowers, then have a note on them for each quest to take a 'flower' at the end of the day.For the inivitations, you can make something that looks like recipe cards. You can also have them fill out recipe cards to give to the bride (make a nice collection for her)

Re: Bridal Shower question
Niecey's Rolling pin guest 'book' would be perfect for something like that! Here's a link to the thread where she has a picture of it
Denise's Rolling Pin
What about a magical wish/dream type theme?? Starry nights? I don't know I saw some stuff in Red Envelope that were along those lines that made me think it would be a nice theme.

Re: Bridal Shower question
Thats a cute idea Lisa but its sounds very 'country' looking to me...and I need to go a little more hip chic for her. She is so not into country style if you know what I mean.Favors and invites I can suite to fit pretty much any theme so Im not too worried about that. Im more stressed about decor, you know?

Re: Bridal Shower question
Stef, what is her wedding song going to be? Has she picked it yet? I was thinking maybe you could do something related to 'their song' as a theme.I'm still thinking!

Re: Bridal Shower question
Maybe staying with the cooking theme, how about a wine theme then? You can even have a wine 'expert' come in and give a quick lesson. That would be fun!!
Or have a fondue/wine party! That is chic now right??

Re: Bridal Shower question
Her wedding song is going to be 'Thank you for loving me' by Bon Jovi. I dare you to come up with a theme for that one! (And dont say 80s rockers..hahhahah)Lisa: Would love love love to do a Wine theme b/c that would work on so many levels but she is not really into wine at all - so its a no go.
Fondue is great but im having it at a restaurant - and unless they open up a fondue restaurant in Bklyn, i dont think that is an option. But it sounds really yummy and would be such a good idea if there was a fondue place near here!

Re: Bridal Shower question
For my friends shower- we did garden theme with flower pots centerpieces and candy flower favors- and colors were her wedding colors- rose and white. What I really wanted to do- but I had a tight budget and couldnt make it work- I wanted to do child/love theme- have you ever seen the kim anderson collection with the black and white children and the colored flowers- I saw invites like that and really wanted to build around that but I couldnt afford the things i wanted to do so I ditched it. They have a place that will actually make a poster- made to look like the kim adnderson pictures out of your baby pics and they put them together to make a poster that looks like you were childhood sweethearts- feel free to take this idea as im not using it

Re: Bridal Shower question
Thanks antoinette but the child love thing wont work for her.I like the garden idea if it were going to but I think it might be a little forced in the late winter.
I hope she agonized this much over my shower :D
Pls keep the ideas coming - i really appreciate them.

Re: Bridal Shower question
No, they do not live together. The shower will be early Nov time frame. She does celebrate Christmas but her wedding will be a winter white/snowflake theme so I cant do anything remotely like that.

Re: Bridal Shower question
Does she like Martinis, or cosmos? You could do a really cute martini theme, or even a cocktail theme, and just use those huge martini glasses as centerpieces. If you do a cosmo theme, you could fill the glasses with pink water, and maybe floating candles. Not from a box has martini invites, that I'm not crazy about, but I'm sure you could make easily. You could also do just a girly, or SATC kind of thing, and use those adorable purse invites from NFAB, and use the same cosmo kind of centerpieces.ETA: Have you checked A perfect event? They always seem to have cute ideas.

Re: Bridal Shower question
Hey ladies..you are so creative..Thought I would throw in my 2 cents. My girls made my shower a hawaii luau theme (that is where i went on my honeymoon) and it was soo fun. We drank out of coconuts, they had antique looking hawaii postcards all around..things in the native language, they also had the leis for the bridal party and a very festive cake wiht orchid flowers on it. My favorite part was the wishing well. I am not usually a big wishing well girl but they made mine out of a laundry basket (simple wood) and the top was a hawaiin umbrella which i now have at home and is soo pretty. It was different and fun and then all the wishing well gifts were hawaii themed..and that was great..we got so much stuff..like cameras, books, maps, sun stuff, t shirts, post cards, photo albums etc. I think it is a good idea because i never know what to do for a wishing well so it gave people ideas. The 50's housewife and martini idea I think sound like a blast as well!!
What about a new york city theme? Well I am sure you will throw an awesome shower!

Re: Bridal Shower question
I dont want it to be liquor themed since it will probably not be an open bar. It will be brunch so maybe one mimosa or bloody mary type of thing..but definitely not all you can drink. So I like the imagery that comes with the cosmos and martinis but its not really good for her either b/c she is not a big drinker.
