Re: Bridal Shower question
Target for those ornaments Stef. They are cheap there and I am sure those are glued. For a centerpiece I assume?

Re: Bridal Shower question
Stef, wait until after Christmas and then you can get the ornaments on the CHEAP! The Fortunoff Christmas store would probably have plenty...and there's a Christmas store in Port Jeff, too!I'd be worried that some of these ideas would make the bridal shower fancier than the wedding...

Re: Bridal Shower question
Im sure I can not afford fortuneoffs christmas store even post christmas..i would need hundreds of these balls..so im looking of bulk purchasing. If I were doing red and green, Im sure I woudl have no problem...but im thinking pink...so could be a problem.Im not worried about making the shower fancier than the wedding...im sure it wont be the case anyway. I would rather her shower be too nice than not nice enough. Obviously these photos are of weddings ... so it wouldnt be quite that fancy..im jsut getting ideas.

Re: Bridal Shower question
Would you like me to check the Christmas store in Port Jeff for you? I'd be happy to help!
Also, Bronner's might have some post-Christmas specials....they often have off season sales where you can purchase an ornament for pennies on the dollar! And, if you're buying in bullk, maybe they'll be able to give you a better price!

Re: Bridal Shower question
Ok, I know you are honing (sp?) in on a theme here, but since everyone is being so creative, I thought I would throw in an idea we tossed around for my MOH's shower.a 'high-tea' shower with all the appropriate trimmings. I was going to go to a Japanese grocery store and get those really cheap tea cups and put a specialty tea bag in each one as a favor.
Tea:Three popular categories of tea are Black, Green, and Oolong; within each of these categories there are many varieties.
Food - The food served at tea is generally light snacks and desserts - basically, anything that can be held in between the finger and thumb.
ie:
Tea sandwiches
Use day-old, thinly-sliced, square white loaves. Cut off the crusts and butter the bread sparingly, using soft butter so the slices don't break. Add a modest amount of filling, and no more; two tablespoons per slice of any of the fillings below is sufficient. Spread the filling, add any garnish, and place another slice on top. Using a long, sharp knife, make an X-cut to get four smaller triangular sandwiches. Add a couple of long toothpicks to help stabilize while you are cutting. Place the cut sandwiches on a serving platter, and cover with a damp napkin. Refrigerate for at least four hours.
FILLINGS: Mix up a small batch of three of four of your favorite sandwich fillings. You can use a curried egg salad (the usual mayo & eggs but add 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder,) tuna salad with lots of celery, deviled ham with some extra mayo, scrimp salad, etc. Try to pick out flavors that will taste well together. Some popular combos are:
Anchovy butter and Greek olives: combine 1 ounce of anchovy fillets, 2 tablespoons of butter, and a pinch of black pepper in a small food-processor. Spread very thinly on the bread, and add a layer of finely-sliced pitted greek olives on top.
Boiled chicken and ham: Thinly sliced, with mustard.
Avocado slices: with dijon mustard dressing and chives.
Tomato slices with basil
And, of course…cucumber
Anyway - just a thought.....

Re: Bridal Shower question
Sage: I think the high tea is a really great shower idea but we are having the shower at a restaurant so I cant exactly change their menu radically to get it to suit the theme, you know?
