buying a house...

we just don't have the money right now to buy one... we're saving and saving and it doesn't seem to add up.... i would love to jump on an opportunity right now while the prices and rates are low (lower than they were, they're still high in my opinion lol).... but i'm upset because i don't know if we'll be able to take advantage of the market :(

Are you sure you cant? I do mortgages for a living and sometimes people think they cant, but actually can. You should meet with a mortgage professional and discuss your options.

we bought with 10% down so I agree with the pp

eta- this was in October- we used Preferred Empire- can not recommend them more highly (and if I remember correctly- Christina works for them)

We didn't think we could either.....but we got pre-qualified! FHA loans require only 3.5% down. On a $400,000, that's only $12,000.

It can't hurt to look into it! We didn't know where to start---but then I spoke w/ a mortgage broker and she told me 'how much house we can afford.'

How funny, we're using them too (although a different person).

I am really confused with this stuff. if you want a house that is like 400,000 how much do you have to put down? A friend told me you have to have a certain # of money in the bank. And she figured to do all of that I need 100,000. Then how much are a mortgage a month.
