Re: Can someone recommend their tomato Sauce from a can!!!

My family would kill me for knowing the answer to this question but the first year DH & I lived together I ate Classico's Tomato and Basil. After that I told DH that he had to learn how to make his own homemade sauce so he did.

It seems to be very easy.

-saute onions & garlic in olive oil in a pot
-add two cans of tomato's (1 whole & 1 crushed) (San Marzano are the best to use)
-add seasoning (salt, pepper, fresh basil, fresh parsley, red pepper flakes) -DH adds other seasonings but I can't remember at the moment.
-then let cook for 2 hours

DH will make enough so I can freeze it & it lasts me a couple of months. Its 1,000 times better then anything I have ever had out of a can or from most restaurants.

Actually as far as tomato sauce goes DHs tomato sauce is better then my moms. As far as meat sauce goes, my moms hands down is the best. For fish sauce my dad makes & freezes it for me.

OMg so thanks everyone for the recs. I got home soo late last night and I will be making sauce after this so thanks for all the homemade recipe's but i have to say I bought the Giardi from target - Creamy tomato that Becca recommended and it was DELICIOUSNESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DH is a chef and he loooved it as well.. Its def goin to be my go to sauce when I don't have time to make.
