ever REALLY trust another girl? Can girls really be good friends with eachother? Or will there always be some hidden animosity/competition/etc?

Re: Can you...
I completely trust my best friend 100%. I don't normally trust women, so she is the only girlfriend I have. I just don't like all the drama and crap that comes with being friends with women. :-/ So I guess my answer to this for myself would be no lol
I am mostly friends with all guys, and DH doesn't really like that, but too bad!

I think so. I have a few girlfriends whom I've known for years and I don't feel any animosity towards them, and I trust them completely ....

i hear what you are saying... i do believe this to be true for some friendships (sometimes, even the close ones)
i am blessed to be able to say that i do in fact have TRUE girlfriends that I KNOW i can trust 100%... not many however lol

As a general rule I don't trust girls, with a few exceptions.

I think so. I can't say that I have ever had any animosity towards or felt any competition with any of my close girlfriends.

Re: Can you...
honestly, I do have a few friends that are girls and I love them to death. But I only 'really' open up and share my heart with my Sisters. They are the ONLY ones I trust fully and completely. My other friends I love dearly, but i don't share 'everything' with them. It's hard to put all your trust in a person, and I personally feel like you shouldn't. You really gotta be careful.

I agree with that, women or not. The only person I would confide in with deep dark secrets, are either my friend Andrea, or my mother. Other than that, everything is kept to myself.

Re: Can you...
majority of the time i am a pretty good judge of character...i have my mother's intuition and can usually tell right off the bat if someone rubs me the wrong way... i have a few very good girlfriends that i've been friends with pretty much since birth..they are the only ones i trust...and really I only have one that i tell EVERYTHING too.. Other than that, nope~! sounds terrible but it's true. I have many many 'good friends', aquiatences(sp?) etc..that i love to death..so i wouldn't say i have anymosity or anything like that towards them... but as for real trust? they are few & far between!

Honestly, I think it depends on the girl. I might be generalizing here, but, I find most girls to be backstabbers. Every now and then you'll find one diamond in the rough.

I've been privy to (and, admittedly, participated in) too many behind-the-back conversations to trust more than a handful of girls. But most of them are fun to hang out with, just not ones to confide in. I have three good friends. One I barely see, which is why we've been friends for 20 years. One is very dramatic, but fully acknowleges and laughs at the fact, and one is more like a guy in regards to the gossip area and dramatics...

Honestly, most my friends are guys....always have been... it is really hard to trust girls, and even when you do find a few that you think you can trust, they really do surprise you sometimes!

Re: Can you...
Hmm good question! The only women I have found to love me unconditionally are the women in my family. Other than that, I try to enjoy my time with other people but remember to not give of myself too fully bc it will only end badly!

Re: Can you...
I would like to think I could but Im not sure. I know all of my girlfriends love me to death and would do anything for me but I dont know if they could always keep a secret.
Luckily I have 2 sisters who always would.

Re: Can you...
Just look at the women in your office. Do any of you have an office where the women don't gossip or talk behind each others backs???
I thought I had a good group of women here, who were really genuine and really nice, and then I started to hear all the gossip and realized that they aren't any better than anyone else. :-/
I have never known a good friendship with any other women in my life, especially growing up and going to school. My best friend throught out childhood wound up making fun of me behind my back from being poor and not talking to me b/c I didn't wear 'new clothes' everyday. I also had girls in my classes who would invite me over for sleepovers, and then talk about me behind my back days later. :-/
I know it was childish stuff, but I think that just helped to ruin any type of relationship I would ever want with another other woman again.
I think it's just in our nature to be that way, I guess if you can deal with it, then good for you. But, I am perfectly happy with all of my male friends lol

Re: Can you...
Is it safe to make a generalization like most women talk about people behind their backs, where as most guys don't really give a sh*t and don't bother with gossip?

I totally agree with you. I have two female friends that I could tell anything to and know that they're not going to judge me. One I don't see often. The other was the MOH at my wedding. The rest of my girl friends are really just acquaintences. A few years ago I was friends with a girl who I considered to be my Best Friend. We were inseparable. When she actively pursued my husband while him and I were on a 'break' I kicked her to the curb. I think that supports my backstabber theory.
