Re: carb related questions
Wow, I've been cutting down my carbs, but I don't think like that. My biggest trick has been instead of eating 2 pieces of toast for breakfast I have oatmeal with fruit and peanut butter. But sometimes I still have a sandwich for lunch, or saltines, or pasta/rice for dinner. So I don't know if that's much help.

Re: carb related questions
does whole wheat have less carbs? if so, just switch to high fiber/whole wheat options.
i dont know 'grams' of carbs normally, so i cant really help
it might be useful to pick up an atkins or south beach diet book just to get an idea of what carbs are good/bad
gl! hope everythign turns out okay!

Re: carb related questions
I dont count numbers, but when I do cut back on carbs, I eat eggs or turkey/cheese rollups for breakfast, for lunch I have salads with lean meats & a few nuts, maybe avocado, and for dinner I have another lean meat & veggie.
That is low..even if you limit it to complex carbs (whole grains, fruits, veggies)....I would eat eggs, cottage cheese, certain yogurts (try plain yogurt or greek yogurts- I think they have less carbs).. For lunch or dinner I would maybe have tuna fish (not a sandwich), grilled chicken, steak, etc...basically any meat but no bread or potatoes. I would also try to figure out which fruits and veggies have the least amount of carbs and eat those. HTH
you can get rice bread and alot of stuff made with rice/brown rice is fewer carbs. I would start eating more protein like egg/egg whites for breakfast and some salads with chicken in it etc...

Re: carb related questions
30 grams of carbs is only two servings per day. This is very low. I would try to eat a lot of green leafy veggies and lean meats. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese have very low carbs as well. I would look at the diabetic exchange list to get a good idea of the carb content in the food you eat.

Re: carb related questions
When I was losing weight for the wedding I was eating 50 grams of carbs per day and it was a struggle.
I have been buying my bread products from a special store that makes low carb breads. For 2 slices it is 11 grams of carbs. Now that is 1/3 of your day so if you had one piece it would be only 5 or 6 grams which is a start.
Big salads will fill you up. 1 oz of romaine lettuce is a gram of carbs. I would have salads with lean meats for lunch and at dinner id have lean meat with salad and broccoli or spinach. 1 serving of broccoli is 4 grams of carbs.
Also- the shirataki noodles are 6 grams for one whole bag. It's a LOT of noodles so I strongly suggest those with either chicken or shrimp for dinners. Sugar free jello is a good thing to keep on tap for times you need something sweet!
30 grams seems REALLY unhealthy to me but if a Dr. said this I guess they ahve their reasons...let me know if you need anything!

Re: carb related questions
I don't know I had to increase my fiber. So thats kind of the opposite, except I went to all high fiber carbs.
I used to do a diet that meant no carbs after 5pm. That is relatively easy because I would eat protein and veggies and steer clear of bread, pasta, rice, etc.
For breakfast what about eggs and 1 piece of toast, find toast with low carbs. I would at least find a cereal that is less carb filled.
Good luck. Counting anything is such a pain.

Re: carb related questions
low carb is soooooooo hard, especially because so many foods have sugar which pretty much equals the same thing.
I try to only eat high-fiber carbs such as multi grain bread, yams, some cereals like shredded wheat, etc. I've seen some recipes for sandwiches which substitute portobello mushroom caps for bread (which would make me want to but to each his own). Eggs and veggie omelets are good for breakfast, but there's only so many of those you can eat ya know?
Try looking at the Atkin's website or South Beach Diet Phase 1 for low carb ideas.
