Anyone have advice on how to narrow done the selection for the albums. I have to choose 72 for mine and 24 for each parent album. ( there are over 1300 to choose from!) I tried to divide it into before the ceremony, during the ceremony, after the ceremony, and the reception. But there are so many i love in each grouping! As far as the parents albums i was thinking of just letting them decide which pictures they like. But i would have to do my parents because they live in Las Vegas. How did you all decide? Help?!

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
Good luck!! We had the hardest time picking out pics for our album. First we pick out all of the ones that we liked, and then every few days we would go through them again and cut a few out. We still ended up with wayy more than our contract allowed so we ended up paying for them But there were some that I just could not part with

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
I really didn't have any pics that I truly LOVED but tons that we liked and I felt needed to tell the story. There were like, 300, like that. So on Thanksgiving, I handed the bunch(minus a couple must haves) to everyone and asked them to pick out their favorites. It really worked. I used my SIL family since they weren't even AT the wedding and could be objective. They managed to get it down to 100 and then we just gave them all the the photographer and let him take out the last 10 if needed. It was so much easier than doing it myself.

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
We only had 810, but we laid them all on the floor and looked for similar pics in different locations. Then we picked out the ones we liked best. I had DH make the final cut from our favorites because I couldn't do it.
Good Luck, Kelly

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
we had almost 600 proofs and needed 72 also, so if there were doubles of shots we picked out the nicer of them, we used scenes from the ceremony, DH waiting for me at the alter me walking with my parents, the unity candle, the wine, the breaking og the glass, we used our big family pics with my whole side and his whole side, pics with our parents together and apart, the first dance the parent dances the cake cutting, the garter and bok, taost with our BM and MOH, adn pics of me with all the guys, and girls and him with all the guys and girls, we ended up paying for extra because i wanted more of us. But the woman that helped us made a comment about having no danceing pics of people in the album. WEll first of all were not made out of money and why do i need people dancing inmy album, if i get all the proofs to keep.
As far as the parents i let them do there own i wsnt goign to be held responsible for not putting a pic in or putting a wrong one in. Since yours are in vegas, i would ask them what ones they really want(even though they cant see them) and then go from there.

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
I can totally sympathize with you! DH and I went to our photographer’s to do the album last weekend and it was SOOOOOOOOOO darn hard picking pictures. I can't even count the # of hours I spent picking and re-picking pics!
The best advice I can give you is to 1st, go and buy a magnifying glass. this way you can visualize what pictures would look good in a larger size. Next, choose all the pictures you would want in the album. then start narrowing down you choices. Worst case scenario, you can pay for a larger album. We got a 100 picture digital album and still had trouble picking pics. Our photographer advised us to not go over the 100 picture amount b/c the album would lose something, and I think he's right. You will always have your proofs, but your album should be a selection of your absolute favorites.
Good luck!

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
The photographer took 750 pictures and we choose 50 for our album. A lot of the pictures are in the same room but different poses. That is what our photographer told us to do. That the book needed to flow, each picture that is next to eachother and on the following page needed to go together and tell a story of how the right played out. So, some of our pictures look similar, but yet they are not. It looks really good.

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
This was definitely the hardest part of wedding planning. I had so many pictures to choose from and eventually I did end up going over. I just dropped them off and I must have seen 5 more pics I wish I would have put in. I put my proofs in albums in chronological order AFTER I dropped off album pics. This should have been done before because it gave me a better idea of the day, timeline wise. At the end of the day, my husband said that we still have the pics, it's not like we had to give the remaining pics back. This makes me feel a lot better but it was still a hard process.

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
For the parent albums, perhaps you want to let the parents themselves pick their own pictures and if the go over, they can pay for their extras?

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
For the parents---the picked their own pics.
For ours, the photographer helped us....seperated all the pics into categories (getting ready, at church before ceremony, walking down aisle, formal pics, reception pics etc) and then went through each seperate pose. We first got rid of the poses we didn't like and thenpicked the best out of all the ones we liked....and we ended up with over 100!!!

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
Get yourself the magnifying glass-at any photo shop for about 5-7 dollars, then take out all the ones that you hate, then all the ones that look like peoples eyes are closed, not ready, etc. Then put them in order of the day and view them in sections, you can get protective albums and then use post its to flag your absolute faves and likes, then see how many that is and then try to get as close to the number you need for the album.

Re: choosing pics for the albums....
Yikes- I remember this I had 603 proofs had to pick 36 for my album there was NO way so I had 74 and payed extra- my parents album they had 18 to choose and I made THEM do it- my parents are divorced- I couldnt deal with that horror too. It took me 3 months to pick out what I wanted and disappointed b/c I left out some I really wanted too but the cost kept rising and rising so I had to leave some out. with the add ons of 8x10, 4x 6,- I got for myself and family members and the extra pics I had added to my album was over 2k! so you can see why I left them out! ( pics of the BP walking in the church is what I really wanted in there and the FG's so I only have my RB pic in my album)
