Re: Christmas Question

I have always had a real tree which I love but.....since I have been with DH it''s an artifical tree. The only place in our living room that we can fit a tree is right in front of the heat soooooooo...a real tree won''t work. We are looking for a new tree this year and I intend to find one that looks as real as possible.

Re: Christmas Question

I''m a real tree person, DH loves it now too. Our living room ceiling is really high so we usually get a 10 footer. I''m always afraid of it being too dry so we usually get it around the second week of December on a Friday night so we can decorate it by Sunday.
I''ve been doing my tree Victorian style for about 7 years-I''m thinking about doing something different this year. DH helps a little & the kids a little too, but I do most of it myself.

Re: Christmas Question

We have an artificial tree. We usually set it up on my b- day - Dec 7th. Not planned but always works out that way.

Re: Christmas Question

I grew up always having an artifical tree and so did DH. Since we''ve been in our house (this will be our 4th year in the house), we''ve made it a tradition to get a real tree. We usually wait and get it the weekend before Christmas, which has worked out well.

We decoorate it ourselves and usually have a Christmas party at our house around the holidays. Each year, my friends and I do an ornament exchange instead of gifts and it really is a great way to get some unique ornaments.

Our first year with a real tree - and I''m clueless!

I''ve always had an artificial tree and we decided to have a real one this year (DH always had real ones growing up). We donated the tree to a charity so there''s no going back now!

Can you please enlighten me about dealing with a real tree ?

*How early can I put it up?

*Do I need to protect the carpeting underneath from sap and/or water?

I heard cats can get weird with the real trees. I found a tree stand with a water tank that is sealed so she can''t drink it.

Anything else to be concerned about?
