cks that you got at the wedding

We had every combo previously listed, but majority were 'Mr. and Mrs. Brian Axxxxx'. Since FH works for a bank, we knew to not sign them, but write 'For Depost Only' and then our acct number, this way we didn't have a problem (or waste our time at the bank ) The tellers were very happy with us.

Luckily we had a joint account already, so it didn't really matter and my MIL (who used to work at a bank) gave me the advice to sign 'Claire Maiden Name-Married Name'.

We didn't have any problems, but my sister's bank wouldn't let them cash their Mr. & MRs. checks until she had changed her name on the account...What a pain!!!

I've started writing Mr. OR Mrs. ___ on checks when I go to the wedding. It's nice to put their married name, but the 'OR' means that even if the bank is obnoxious about it, the groom can still cash it on his own.

We got every version possible:

Just my name
Just his name
My maiden name and his name
My new last name and his name
Our first and middle names (yep someone made out the check just using our first and middle names)

I have another question....

My bank told us they need the marriage license first, but I'm hyphenating my name and I'm almost positive that nobody will make the checks out this way!

So my question, will the bank let us deposit checks written 'Mr. & Mrs. His 1st and Last Name' if the marriage license itself says His First and Last Name and My First Name Maiden-New Name?

This banking is really annoying!!!

We brought our marriage license as well. It doesn't matter if the checks are not made out the way your new name will be.

Thanks for the advice! I was just nervous they wouldn't take it since the checks didn't have the hyphenated name!
