Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
I'm trying to take my pictures early so I can enjoy my CH. But, I wasn't thinking about going out there with the guests because I want to get announced during the reception.SO, basically for those of you that had time to do your CH, did you mingle with your guests, get announced during the CH, or enjoyed it in the Bridal suite? My Bridal suite is small so onlt the BM and MOL can stay in it with us. :(

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
We did what you plan on doing--took as many pictures prior to our ceremony so that we could try and attend as much as we could of our CH. We attended about 20 minutes at max, mingled for a little bit and then we were announced at the beginning of our reception. It was fine, because we really didn't get to talk to anyone. I spent a lot of the cocktail hour having my bustle done, refreshing makeup, etc.

I did not attend my cocktail hour because I wanted my guests to see me when we were announced first. Looking back though, I probably would have gone to CH to spend time more time with everone.

We did attend CH. Unfortunately I didn,t really make it around the room before we had to go back in bridal suite BUT I absolutely recommend it. It doesn't take away from you being introduced, in my opinion. Also, the mnore people you say hello to during the CH, the more time you have for partying at the reception.

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
My bridal party went to the CH, we did not. We were actually planning on it, but my mother thought it would be better if we didn't...to make the grand entrance I guess. Anyhow, I'm not sorry I didn't go, except that I never got to see my ice sculpture! Otherwise, it was literally the only time the whole day when DH and I could be ALONE and sort of sit back and say, 'Wow, we're actually married!!'

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
We took pics in between the ceremony and reception and did a few family shots when we got to the hall. We wanted to go to the CH so we could see alot of our guests then so we had the rest of the night to have a good time and not go to table to table saying hi, we did most of that at the CH. We were able to have fun with everyone without feeling like we didn't greet them.

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
We mingled at most of the cocktail hour and it was great! We got to spend a lot more time with guests at that time that left us more time for dancing, eating and fun at the reception later.Plus, our CH was in the library and it was really beautiful...if I had not attended i would have never seen it in person!
We were not announced at the CH but at the reception before our first dance.

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
I did not plan on attending my cocktail hour for the same reason being making an entrance into the reception......but people were seeing me anyway when I was taking pictures so it really did'nt matter. I walked around outside so those who spent cocktail hour outside I spoke with then.

My cocktail hour was an 1 1/2 hours. I hung out in the bridal suite for the first half hour then went out and mingled with the guests during the last hour. I am glad I did because it is so hard to chat with all the guests that you would liek to during the reception.

We tried to go to the CH, but were bombarded with people as soon as we walked in the door. People meant well, but we were so overwhelmed. We took a quick look from the door, and then went back to our suite.

We went to the CH and were so happy we did. We were so happy and it was great to see everyone and mingle. It helped ensure that we saw everyone and had time to enjoy the reception.

we also went to the ch and i'm so glad we did. it was great to get an extra chance to see people. plus we paid a lot of money for that food! i wanted to eat some of it! and honestly i don't think it took anything away from the entrance at the reception, i mean they've already seen you at the ceremony anyway...

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
We did some family pics during the first half and some mingling during the 2nd half of the cocktail hour. I was glad we did and I don't think it diminished the impact of our grand entrance.

I'm glad we went to CH because we were able to enjoy the reception more since we greeted everyone during CH even though my head was spinning after talking to so many people in such a short period of time.

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
We did. And I'm so glad we did. That way we didn't have to spend a lot of our time walking around to tables and saying hi to everyone. We were still intorduced at the reception - our BM and attendant just pulled us away a as people were going into the reception room and then we made our entrance. Like someone else said, it's not like all the people hadn't just seen us at the ceremony.

Re: Cocktail Hour Question? Did you mingle w/guests/
we took pictures early so we could enjoy our cocktail hour, but...........we were so emotionally drained after the ceremony that we didn't want to deal with socializing right away with the guests. Just DH and I stayed in the bridal suite and they brought us food and drinks from the cocktail hour. The bridal party went to cocktail hour and left us alone.
It was nice to have some ALONE time with DH right after the ceremony, just to relax for a little while.n
