Communication...how vital it really is...(Loooong)

I just wanted to post on how in the last few weeks, communication has been so vital and important to not only my sanity, but to my new marriage.

As many of you know, we miscarried right before Christmas and DH was absolutely wonderful...attentive, caring, warm, affectionate...anything I needed, he got for me. Telling me I shouldn't go back to work yet, making sure I was resting and not overdoing myself..which I always do.
I even opened up and told him how much I was enjoying this outward show of affection. That led to him doing it more and more often.

Well, this past week I finally asked HIM what he was feeling and when he thought about trying again. It's then that he told me how devastated he was....how when he sees a small child in his store at work, how sad he gets. He's scared that something can happen again, and wants to wait a little while until he feels what he felt when we first started trying...he wants to be excited again...excited to be a dad, the anticipation of expecting a child.

When I asked him why he didn't talk about it sooner....he said 'I didn't want to burden you with my feelings because you've already been through so much.' How sweet is that? I told him that it didn't just happen to me, it happened to us and that I wanted him to continue expressing his feelings and to continue his outward expressions of affection and love.

Just wanted to share how wonderful Rich is and how important communication truly is!

awww! That really is a great story! I have also found that when I least expect it, I find out what DH is 'really' thinking and feeling...and sometimes it's a pleasant surprise!
