I need the real marriage certificate (with the raised seal) to change my social security card. Do I need that certificate to change my license too? Once I get the certificate in the mail, if i bring it to the DMV- they give it back to me right then, and then i can mail it to the SS office and eventually get it back by mail, true? after these two changes i think everything else will fall into place more easily. i think with my insurance i only need the copy of the license that was mailed in ...this is overwhelming!

Re: confused
For EVERYTHING you need the actual marriage certificate, its the ONLY legal document of your marriage. Yes you will get it back at the DMV and SS office, they do not take it from you they just look at it.
Your License that you went and applied for means nothing, its just that an application for marriage, not legal in anyway

Re: confused
I did need it to change my license but I also live in NJ so I think it may be different. Just wanted to let you know though, you don't have to mail it to SS, you can just go to a SS office and get it done there (they will mail you the new card).
