could really use some advice/guidance UPDATE!

Original post by Soon2BMrsD

Hi ladies i know its been a few weeks since ive been on.. heres whats been going on..

I got the call from the pediatric office that they wanted to hire me and that i would be able to start aug 11th. Well about 30 seconds later i got a call back from the office manager saying that she didnt want me to quit my job yet untill i worked a little in the office to make sure i liked it and that she wanted me to come in on monday.(july 28th) So thinkin she knows best and that she was just being nice i decided to go in on that monday. Well it turns out ive been working 25 hours a week since then and still at my old job 25 hours a week. and turns out I HATE THIS NEW JOB!!!!! im just starting the 2nd week and i techinaclly shouldnt even be working yet. im so disapointed in the pay and the enviorment im just not HAPPY.

so yesterday i went to my old job to finish what shoul dhave been my last week there and the boss who is much more like a friend says whats wrong... and we sat down in his office and i just let it all out. He then told me that i dont owe them
anything. I havent been there long enough. and that if im not happy i should leave especially since im too young to have a job i hate.

So heres the issue... i happend to get a call from a nursing home that i was hoping would call a few weeks ago. so i took the interview (today at 230) if it seems good i would really like to take the job and give this a shot. I'm so uncomfortable with confrontation and am afraid that when i go back to the pediatric office thats what will happen when i tell them i quit. So heres my question. Im supposed to be in one of their other offices tomorrow from 9-1 i dont think the office manager is in tomorrow and id rather not put off telling them till friday when i have to work 9-2. Can i call them and tell them over the phone? i know its prob not appropriate but i just really dont know what to do ive never been in this perdiciment(spelling) before and could really use some guidance.. my husband is no help sometimes hes like just dont go back.

Thanks in advance!

wow!!!! reading your update, I would DEFINITELY say you made the right choice, they sound a little nutso, maybe they've had quite a few people not make it through training due to their crazy work atmosphere. I had a somewhat similar experience about 7 yrs ago, I was in between jobs and tried a company that was outside of my field- within 2 weeks I knew it wasn't for me, I left and found a job that really jumpstarted my career and skillset. congrats on landing the new job, it sounds like a win-win situation!!

thanks so much for the story it makes me feel like what i did was really right.. that seems to be the way lately that you need to do soething crappy to get to the good stuff!

Ughhh...what jerks!

Ok so are they not going to pay you for working this week? Now that would p*ss me off and I would fight them on that! Did you clock in or fill out a timecard. Total BS.

Congrats on the new job though!!!!! YAY for that!

holy crap! Here we are telling you to be professional & they certainly are NOT! Well at least their behavior confirmed your decision to leave...put it behind you and enjoy your new, better job!

wow! im glad you did what you did.

that really s|ucks - but things like that just confirm your decisions, ya know?

same thing happened when i left my job last year to go back and work for my dad. They treated me like an immature 15 yr old by saying, what are you doing with your life? you meet a guy, 3 months later you're engaged, and now you're getting married and leaving this job???
UMMMM EXCUSE me but when was my personal life ever their issue, i was sooo glad i left as well.

congrats on the new job :)

You didn't quit, you dumped a co-dependent. That's insane. Sorry you didn't avoid the confrontation, but FWIW, that's probably the most confrontation you'll ever have to deal with for the rest of your life regarding a job. You can handle anything from here on out.
