They are truly wild. are they even in season? I have to go look into this flower. They kind of look like bee hives

Since I don't know your area I cannot even help as to where to go look for flowers besides the local grocery store which most probably will only have roses. The local florist will still charge you alot per p. You will save only about 80 - 100 maybe.. not even that much of a savings.

What about hydrangea They are in season and really inexpensive - they just don't last long out of water. I have some in my backyard - does anyone have them that you can clip off a bush to use? Just a thought.

Besides the reason that I love peonies and I could not have them for my 1st wedding b/c they were just over the top during the season , I chose them for this session b/c now they were in season and also the fluffiness so that I would use less flowers to accomplish a large Bo-k. The other flower was a star chrysanthemum - best part w/this flower is that it was inexpensive

Over all I felt there is also more room for error when making the arrangement b/c of the two flowers being soo meaty.

My best suggestion is to purchase the flowers the night b/f and put them in warm water to make them really open large what ever you chose. The hardest part was getting the flowers real tight as your wrap the ribbon. You will need a friend or the DH to help with that part. You also have to post pix to show us how you did

they do look like beehives!!! i dont know a thing more about them- when they're in season, etc. I've never seen them in person, at least I don't think so!

i do have a friend who has hydrangea bushes, maybe she'll let me snip some, lol but like you said, doesnt last long in high heat. hmm, still thinking. maybe if its not a huge, ornate, overly done bouquet, and i get flowers from the florist, it wont be TOO expensive? i dunno. something to look into with them. theres a great florist nearby where i live. the problem is im clueless about whats in season so i need to do some research. i have to keep in mind that fuller flowers may be better! beautiful flowers you chose, btw.

tthx for all the suggestions...ill def post if it comes out okay, you all don't need to see my botched bo-k if it doesn't work out! I already warned DH he'll be helping, thankfully he doesnt mind that kinda stuff.

See now that is smart - sniping hydrangea Just keep them in water till the very last second and I think you will get 2 hours or 3 of life out of them. At my wedding I used hydrangea for the BM and they should have been in water the whole time up until we needed them. So they looked terrible right after I walked down the isle - falling apart wilting and turning brown. It was disastrous! I was none to happy. So that about happened after approx 5hrs just to give you an idea. You most probably will only need them for what 3hrs max

Price out your local florist see what they have in stock. I purchased the peonies at a local shop in NYC I didn't have a choice b/c I couldn't locate a local vendor wholesale that had them in bloom yet- although they were in season they still were not cheap. They were $15 per p - so you can imagine how that would have been to use them out of season.

So I purchased about close to $80 of Peonies and they were willing to make the Bo-k for me for only $130. You see where I am going with this? I didn't save alot but than again I had to have the flower I was quite stubborn.
The chrysanthum was the real money saver for 5 or 6 of them it cost me $4.
So maybe you can look for the KEY player flower than just spend a bit of money on your fillers
Just a suggestion.
As far as you posting your bo-k I understand what your sayin but C'mon you have to post it now regardless you got me curious so what if it su x I make funn of myself all the time - and for the record I am having a really really hard time with thinking it will come out pretty freaking decent. Did you take a look at your wedding

thx

...sheesh, you really didnt save that much money but it was a beautiful bo-k, so worth it im sure. the hydrangea is an idea but i think im going to talk to the local florist- check out prices and go from there. i think youre right- maybe i can find a flower i love that i dont mind spending a little more $ on and then cheaper pretty filler flowers. if its too much of a pain, ill toss the whole bo-k idea!

Your right I did not save a lot of money on the bo-k but that is ONLY b/c I was stuck on that flower. I did save myself a bit wanting that type of flower b/c the $130 would have been w/out any other flower and the tax, delivery etc...So in the sense if I had it made up like the way I did it most probably would have been more like $200 +

You can still do it inexpensive it is just a matter of what your willing to sacrifice. Unfortunately once I get my mind set on something it is hard for me to go back. I have tunnel vision

i know all about being stubborn, unfortunately. well the bo-k was beautiful so it was clearly worth it too. and at least you saved some, ya know.

for a sec, part of me thought about maybe paying to have an exact replica of my original bo-k, bc back then i totally forgot about doing the bo-k preservation which i thought would have been really cool...but this way, i could get it done and it would look like my original bo-k. i wouldnt really do that tho. not to mention, i LOVED my bo-k and any imitation by another florist would probably fall short of how verbena originally did it.

hum sounds like you have a lot to think about I kinda like that idea about the original bo-k I think if you don't use who you used most probably fall short.
