We had a handful of people show up to our wedding without bringing a wedding gift/card etc and in some of the cases never mentioned a reason. I cant even fathom how or why people would do this?
Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Did Anyone Show Up Without A Gift?
My cousin and his girlfriend didn't give us so much as a card.
Another guest told me that she had brought a gift, but decided not to bring it inside with her because she wasn't sure where we would be able to store it during the reception.

Re: Did Anyone Show Up Without A Gift?
3 no gifts/cards the day of the wedding. 2 were people in the BP. One of them called my Mom while we were on our honeymoon to say he found it in his bag of clothes from the wedding. I saw him for dinner on Sat night and still haven't gotten it. The other BP member asked me why I hadn't deposited her check yet, when I saw her after we got back from our honeymoon. Apparently her drunk DH left the card on the table and it probably wound up in the trash. She gave me a new card and cash when I saw her on Sat. The other is my Dad's cousin, who has a very good job. We didn't even get a card from him.

one person said they forgot it, because they had another wedding earlier in the day, and they were busy...and they would mail it, umm never did! its not someone i feel comfortable asking for it, so maybe when they get the thankyou it will be a reminder?!

Re: Did Anyone Show Up Without A Gift?
I had 13 non gifters. 2 of them outted themselves, asked for our address (and sent nothing), one of them I confronted because its f'ing rude when I gave her a gift last year (she said she forgot and still has sent nothing), one sent an actual gift gift and the rest have said and done nothing.
I don't like how some people say 'I didn't get married to get gifts.' Guess what, no one with their head screwed on straight gets married for gifts, but theres a thing called etiquette and when you request for people to share your special day with you, you expect to be met with the respect of a gift. I would NEVER EVER show up to ANYTHING without a gift. Its called RUDE. As a matter of fact, I send gifts to people sometimes when I wasn't even invited.

Re: Did Anyone Show Up Without A Gift?
I had a few people who didn't give gifts. Half the people in the wedding party didn't, and a couple other of our friends. I chalk it up to them being young, poor, and this is a bad economy. I know it feels insulting when people don't give you something, but you have to remember people are struggling right now and it's embarrassing for them if they can't give you something. So it's best to not jump to conclusions and let it go.
Besides, it's just a present, is it really that big of a deal? Not everything is about money or things.

I agree to an extent. But is it really all that hard for someone to purchase a card in the dollar store to wish you well? I understand people are going through hardships and what not, but people can at least buy you a card to wish you a life of happiness.

Re: Did Anyone Show Up Without A Gift?
I had my first cousin show up with nothing, no card, no gift,.... which I thought was very strange, but I could never ask if it got lost, etc....It would be too tacky to ask, so I'll just be glad he came.
