Yep. He tried to ask both of my parents but my mom wasn't home when he came over. So he asked my dad and my dad said yes. And then my dad told him he'd call him when my mom got home so he could ask her too. But when he got there to ask my mom I was just coming home from work. He played it off like he knew I'd be home so he came over to see me.

Mine did. He waited until he was knew when he was going to do it...and then was having a heart attack b/c my dad works when we sleep and sleeps when we work....so he only called back about 30 minutes before he was going to ask. My dad really appreciated it

Dh said he did not ask 'permission' since i was 33 and living on my own and would do it regardless of what my Dad said...but he asked my Dad for his blessing...which my Dad gave...so in my Dad's mind he asked...which made him happy...and in DH's mind he didn't ask permission...they kind of clash sometimes...because in some ways they are soooo similar!! And after the he proposed i realized i was there when he asked...i thought it was weird DH actual went into the basement to hang out with my Dad...haha..but now i know why!

Joe REFUSED to propose until he asked my dad! My dad burst into tears the night he asked for my hand. My dad and step-mom spent the night crying like lil babies everytime they thought about me getting married. My dad tells me that that kind of respect just isn't there these days, and he appreciates the fact that Joe had enough respect for me and my dad to ask him.

My DH did. He drove to my parent's house behind my back 2 days before popping the question. I don't know the exact details of the conversation, but I am guessing that he told them he wanted their blessing. I was 33 at the time so I don't doubt he asked for permission.
My parents loved it, and my mom avoided me for the next 2 days because she was afraid of spoling the surprise, She's so cute.

My dad had serious brain surgery last summer and was in a coma for 10 days. DH had intended to ask me during earlier, but waited until my dad woke up and was coherent enough to be asked. DH and I went to see my dad and DH sent me for some coffee and he asked then, I had no clue. Funny though...my dad was still a little confused and thought he might have imagined/dreamt it until DH actually asked and my dad was quite relieved!

yes, he did! He asked my dad.....My dad asked him how /when/where he planned on doing it.
He told him that he had been thinking about different restaurants, a surprise trip, etc.....but he ultimately settled on Central Park b/c the world changes so fast....Central Park will be there forever and we can always come back.
He is just soooo thoughtful.

They actually designed the ring together and my dad's friend made it

yes mine asked my dad i like hear how my dad thought he was coming over to him to ask him about a navigation system for xmas! My step mom kept telling mydad it is prob to marry me!! My dad didnt believher and he did ask

He told my parents about it the night before while I was hanging out with my friend. I don't think he asked for permission though, I think he just told them what his plans were.

He came to my parents house one day when he knew I was not home to ask my parents. He didn't get the reaction that he thought bc my dad just laughed at him & said 'she is all yours!!!!' My DH thought it was hysterical!!!!

My dad isn't around. But he didn't ask my mother. She always knew he was the one for me, so even if he did ask she would have said yes in an instant.
