Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
I was convinced it would rain on my wedding day because that is just my luck. I say you can't stress over things you have no control over. I never really thought to much about it once I adapted that attitude. A wedding isn't all about the weather. Anyway, my day was drizzly and gloomy when I woke up and went to get my hair done but not really raining too hard - - it basically held up. I was told the sun actually came out in the middle of the ceremony and shoone thru the church windows - but somehow I had no clue.Don't stress about it - even with rain - you will have a beautiful wedding day!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
I told myself that either way, rain or shine...I was getting married. That rain was super romantic. That clouds make for better pictures. That everybody would want to stay close and not linger away or outside from the dance floor if it rained. That it would be more memorable if it stormed. We had a major snowstorm on my sister's wedding. NOTHING LIKE IT. Rain, sleet, snow, wind....the pictures are like out of a movie.
Dont worry. There is NOTHING you can do to control Mother Nature. Except buy a white umbrella and embrace her.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
My wedding was August 31, 2002, last year. We drove up from NC 2 days before when LI was flooded! Oh boy was I upset. Needless to say, that it drizzled a little, and was gloomy going into the church, but after the ceremony when we came out, it was absolutely gorgeous. The birds were even singing. Not Exaggerating!!! It was just meant to be. But I did stress about it, but everything turned out great! They're never right anyway!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
Yes, and it stressed me out. I thought in a strange way, I can't get married if it is raining! I picked my hall to take beautiful pics on the golf course, I wanted my FALL wedding! In the end, that isn't what mattered, but I have to say, I was/am still disappointed I didn't get my FALL day.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
It not only rained, it snowed! March 30, 2003.I didn't get to take pictures outside of Flowerfield. These are the only pictures that I truly miss!
I did get a beautiful picture in the snow though.
The day was beautiful anyway. Your wedding will be wonderful no matter what the weather is!

Dawnie & Starhead - I got married the day before both of you and it rained on my wedding day. We just made it into the limo after the church before the skies opened up.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
NO, it didn't rain. IT POURED from Thursday night through Sunday morning, and my wedding was on Saturday night. It saved me that we had a limo bus, which was better than having to crouch near the wet ground to get into a limo. Biggest peice of advice I have if it rains is SKIP the receiving line - even if you do it quickly with only the bride and groom, which we did - there was hardly anyone left to throw rose petals because of the rain. ALSO pick out some nice colorful umbrellas, or umbrellas the color of your wedding party and have them on hand. That way you don't have Mets and Citibank umbrellas in your pictures......

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
Yes it rained on my wedding day. At first I was praying that it wouldn't. But, once I was in my gown heading to the church. I could care less!!! Your just so happy you don't care about anything that goes on!!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
The day started quietly...a few clouds and some sun while I got my hair done. The sky opened up the minute my photographer arrived at my house...and didn't let up but for 10 minutes during the reception. I never stressed myself about the weather. I just made a backup plan for outdoor pictures, and dealt with it. When everyone saw how it started to pour, they tried to keep me from looking out the window (um, like I wouldn't know it was raining? LOL). But I looked, shruged my shoulders and said 'oh well!'. And that was it. It didn't bother me ONE BIT. It is uncontrollable, it doesn't effect the fact that I got married that day, and my pictures are still beautiful. No worries!!! Just have a plan for your pictures...and you'll still have a beautiful day!
Good luck!!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
Aren't you getting married on Saturday? I thought the weather was supposed to be nice that day? Sunday I heard rain, but who knows.Either way, it's something you can't change, so try not to stress over - of course, this is easier said than done! They predicted torrential rain on our day (10/5/02!), but it was gorgeous out! I was thrilled beyond belief. But, if it had rained, I would have been disappointed for my outdoor pics, but wouldn't have let it ruin my day

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
Oh boy did I stress about this big time. After 8 days of glorious September weather, the forecast for my wedding day was 'downright nasty' torrential downpours. I drove my DH and mom crazy with the constant weather checks and was in hysterics the Wednesday before the wedding with throughts of pouring rain. Finally my DH said to me, 'We're not going to a funeral, we're going to our wedding!' Thats when I snapped out of it.I woke up to pouring rain but then it remained over cast with bits of sun all day long until around 9:30pm when the skies opened up. It was actually more beautiful then I could have imagined with all the candles everywhere.
So the moral of the story is, try not to stress about it. The forecasters are always wrong anyways and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it anyways. It will be beautiful and the best day of your life regardless of weather!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
I totally understand about wanting it to be nice on your wedding day - but you cant really stress over it because it is uncontrollable.....Even though my day was nice -partly sunny with some clouds, 75 degrees and able to take pics outside...(not a perfect day with clear blue skies but good enough!) - I really love my indooor pics at the catering hall too.... it did start to drizzle at 10pm that night but we were well into the reception by then...

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
yes yes yes it certainly did! We had rain all day off and on. There was nothing I could do about it so I let it go. I had planned an outdoor CT hour but the backup room Watermill had for us was beautiful so I didnt really mind. The rain ended just before we left for the church. There was a rainbow out on our way to the reception. At thend end of the day we were married and thats all that mattered.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
I went to a wedding ceremony where it POURED. But what made the wedding great was to see the bridal party act like troopers and to see how happy the bride and groom were despite the weather. As long as you enjoy your day and are happy in your heart it won't matter if there is a blizzard! Enjoy your day!!!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
It didn't rain but it was very, very cold......I was shivering while taking all my photos but thankfully you don't notice in the pictures. Don't stress over things you can't enjoy. Just have a plan b if it does rain.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
It rained 1/2 of the day for me. The week before the wedding they kept saying chance of thunderstorms and I was really stressing over it.Well I woke up on my wedding day and it was overcast, but not yet raining. I was so busy getting my hair and makeup done that I didn't notice it had started pouring until my 3 year old niece pointed it out ( no one else wanted to upset me). At that point I didn't even care, I was just so happy to be getting married that it didn't upset me at all. We wound up having the ceremony indoors (which turned out to be nicer and more intimate). By the time cocktail hour rolled around the sun was out and we were able to get lots of outdoor pictures.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?
yup!!! Big 'Ol Noreaster. IT POORED!!!! I can honestly say it didn't bother me at all. But I am that kind of a person to begin with.It is the one thing you CAN'T pay for so why stress out about it. Of course everyone wants the perfect weather. But in the end it shouldn't be what matters.
