Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

I bought umbrellas for the bridesmaids (and returned them later) and a big black golf umbrella for me and DH

I thought that if I bought them...its MMurphys law that I wouldn't need them...and I didn't...but when I told the photographer...they thought it would make a great photo op...

the pic didn't scan well...but you get the idea...make the most of it...

it POURED at my sisters wedding and we really didn't think twice about it...and we opened up my parents french doors to see the garden and flowers which looked fantastic in the rain...

I don't have her proofs...but here is one I snapped while they were shooting to give you an idea:

also she still went out to the Northport docks to take pics with her and DH...they used a big beach umbrella

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

It rained so much the week before my wedding, even the day before in the morning...so I decided not to look at weather reports AT ALL! And, I didn't. It ended up being an absolutely gorgeous weekend for my wedding..

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

Don't think about it.. It POURED the day before and the day before that.. it was muggy and cloudy on my wedding day.. there were spotty showers and luckily not when we were outside..

It was the furthest thing from my mind.. what are you going to do?? all I did was make arrangements for indoor pics if I needed to.. but I didn't..

When it comes down to it, you've done all you can and ultimately, it's the day is about the union of you and your beloved.. nothing will make that fact any less significant..

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

It was supposed to pour and thunderstorm all day for my wedding. The rain held out all day and according to my guests, it started to rain right after the cocktail hour started. It was the same thing for my friend. It was supposed to pour all day, but it held out until evening. Even if it says it is going to be nasty, dont go by that because it may hold out.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

Yes, it rained on my wedding day. And while I have to admit when I woke up at 6:30 that morning to the sound of rain crashing down on my roof and window, I cried. I kept hoping it would stop, but it didn't until just before cocktail hour. Even so, we couldn't have the cocktail hour outside, since everything was soaked.

All in all, the rain didn't put a damper on the wedding itself, and yes, we did get one or two GREAT shots with very dramatic and dark clouds in the sky, but I didn't get nearly as many outdoor pictures as I hoped for.

My only advice to you would be to let it go. You can't control the weather. Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst. In other words, have a wonderful back up place for pictures in case it rains, so you will be happy no matter what! If you don't have an indoor alternative, find one NOW! That way, if it rains or if it shines, you'll have pictures you love. Other than that, you won't even notice the rain.

Good luck!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

yep, rained all day on and off. i admit, i stressed the whole week before. how could i not? i had planned for a year to have a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and beautiful sunset pics. when the weatherman started saying that it was going to rain i was devastated, especially since we'd had 8 days of nice weather. and while it didn't ruin the wedding i'm still really disappointed about it. our pics, i'm sure, are not as good or varied as they could have been and i'm sad that it wasn't my dream day. but oh well. i'll have to deal.

i don't have any advice for you. i can't tell you not to stress b/c i know it's almost impossible not to. i guess just try to think of alternate locations for pics and have a large umbrella handy. we did get a few outdoor pics under a giant black and white umbrella and they came out cute. good luck!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

no it didnt, it was overcast, then before my ceremony the sun came out. SO many people gave me a hard time because I was an april bride too! If I heard April showers...one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!

But reguardless, and I am being honest, it would not have ruined my day. So please dont worry.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

It rained--poured--from Thursday night until Sunday last Columbus Day weekend. We got married on that Saturday morning. While I was crying and depressed up until Friday afternoon, I realized and finally accepted that the weather was the one thing I could not control.
We had a spectacular day. Once we got into the Church, we forgot that it was even raining.
Enjoy yourselves! You will have a beautiful wedding, regardless of the weather!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

It rained and poured and there were some flood warnings on my wedding day too. It had been rainy for most of the week leading up to my day, then on Friday, the day before my wedding day, it was a fabulous sunny and temperate day. I was happy to see that it was sunny because I hoped that that would mean that the ground would dry up so that I could have my outdoor ceremony on the lawns of the mansion where I was to have my wedding.

But in the morning of my wedding, I woke up to the pitter patter of rain and I just took it in stride and didn't let it get to me because it was not something I could control. So I made myself enjoyed my day to the fullest. I had a magical evening despite the rain. It finally stopped raining at around 11:30 pm and I was able to get a couple pictures in the courtyard. It was only afterwards that I started to think how I didn't get any of the outdoors pictures that I had imagined and wanted. After some time, your negative feelings that things didn't go as perfectly as you planned and imagined subsides and less important.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

It poured the day before and was expected to be the same on our wedding day. It ended up raining lightly in the morning stopping by 11:00AM. Then it was just cloudy until right at the end of our ceremony when these big drops started falling from the sky on us. At that point I had my pictures and my ceremony was almost over and I actually laughed at the rain. It ended up being a quick passing shower with big rain drops. After it ended there was a double rainbow in the sky.

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

Try not to stress too much. I did way before the wedding saying 'I know it's going to rain, I know it's going to rain' but when the week before came and they chance of rain, it didn't bother me so much. There really is nothing that can be done about it and you already have enough to think about.

Answer to the question: It did not RAIN but it was pretty foggy and by the time we got to the reception, you really couldn't see 3 feet in front of you. It was a BEAUTIFUL day anyway

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

we were supposed to get married outside at Flowerfield-- and I watched the weather for weeks before .... That day -- I woke up and the sky was cloudy -- I got to Flowerfield and Scott ( from flowerfield) was in his office watching the weather channel -- He said ' danielle I think we can get the ceremony in ' I went to the bridal suite -- and as I was getting my hair done -- all I heard was pouring rain on the skylights--- Scott stuck his head in the room and we both laughed and said -- Inside it is then ! The ceremony was so pretty inside -- and the guests all thought it was planned inside. Needless to say -- 1 hour into the reception the sun came out and the day was beautiful !

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

Yes, it drizzled in the morning. It stopped during our ceremony and reception in between. Thus we were able to get pictures at our reception of their beautiful outdoor grounds. It then down poured during our reception with T-storms, thunder and lighting during dinner. We were supposed to have an outdoor cocktail but everything was inside because of the rain.

There's nothing you can do. We can't control the weather. Just enjoy the day feeling like a princess and prince to the fullest! To us, it was truly a beautiful day and yet the most happiest as well!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

I swear to God, it was nice and sunny on my day and as I stepped out of the limo to walk into church it started sprinkling....and as I stepped into church it stopped! My mom said it was good luck

At that point I didn't care, just wanted to get married!

Re: Did it rain on your wedding day?

Well, one of the reasons we booked Westbury Manor is for the wonderful gardens, and because we wanted and outdoor ceremony. We had a wonderful day, although it rained for about 15 minutes an hour before the ceremony while we were taking pictures outside. I was very lucky, I got my ceremony in the garden, and have beautiful shots inside and outside. And yes, I prayed and prayed for a nice day!
