Did you feel down after the wedding?

Did you feel down after the wedding?

I felt bummed after the wedding. I missed all the planning and everyone fussing over you, much more than I ever thought. I wasn't that wrapped up in the wedding, so I didn't expect to have this problem, but I was in quite a funk/readjustment period after getting home from the honeymoon. I feel like I've just gotten back to the realm of 'normal' in the last couple of weeks.

How about you guys?

I have been in a rut since I got back from the HM. Nothing in my life can compare to the exitement of looking forward to the wedding and the vacation of a lifetime IMO.

Actually no.

I don't know if it's because DH and I are a bit older and I'm the last of my friends and family to be married or what. I think all along I was looking forward to being married more than the day itself. Don't get me wrong, I did have my obsessions but actually I think they were pretty mild in lieu of most of the wedding drama I hear about.

I've always led a REALLY busy life anyway. My job is insane, my dad is handicapped from a stroke and I have to care for his finances, bills, doctors appointments, shopping, etc. DH and I spent our engagement finishing our home improvement projects... new kitchen, deck, painting, etc. Now we are looking for a new house.

I'm a teacher and this is actually the first summer I have had to 'myself' without major responsibilities in years. So far I've mananaged to fill every day. I guess I just find projects to do. Cleaning closets, basement, organizing pics in albums, started Christmas shopping.

Its probably the sudden adjustment to so much free time that's bothering you. Too much of a shock. Are there any other projects you can take on? Does a friend or relative need help right now? That might fill up the time and it feels good helping others.

No, I am still pretty busy! In fact, I would love some leisure time! LOL. I am taking a summer class which has a heavy work load (I 'll be finishing up my Masters in the fall). We hadn't lived together previously, so we have been entertaining friends and family in our new place almost every weekend.

I have been down as well..... Its not that I even miss the planning - because to me it was stressful. I just miss being the special one - like you said no one fawns over me anymore. I am just a 'regular person' again....

Those were my exact words when explaining to DH how I felt. It stinks to loose your celebrity status!

No, at first I was relieved that I could finally relax, since I was done with all the planning. Three months later, until now, I am feeling down. I miss it and I wish I could do it again. I spent, two years of my life planning and then suddenly, I stopped. It was weird. I really miss it. I would do it all over again, if I it meant I could have another one.

I actually miss the wedding planning part, as crazy as that sounds! It was a good creative outlet for me and I enjoy planning parties. I don't miss the stress though - just figuring out the details and picking things out.

I also miss having something big to look forward to. My FH is going to be traveling a lot for his new job next year, so I won't see him as much. That has me bummed.

I am planning to take on some new hobbies - including scrapbooking!

Me too! I actually went to a scrapbooking party on Friday night. It was a lot of fun. Of course, the objective was to sell you stuff, but we got to make a greeting card and a cute scrapbook page for free. It definitely got me interested in it as a new activity.

I'm a little bummed. I feel like after two years of planning that there is nothing else to look forward to. I feel like we planned for so long and everything goes so fast and I didn't even get to enjoy it the way I should have. Also, near the end of the planning stages, everything was so stressful and I just wanted the wedding to be over...but now I'm a little upset that I felt that way.

I felt bummed too because after so much planning and preparing it went by way too quickly. I really miss it and all I kept thinking was I wish I could re-live it again. The funny thing was the week before my wedding I couldnt wait to get it over with becase I was so stressed and never thought Id miss it.

Re: Did you feel down after the wedding?

I still do. I'm having a hard time putting a finger on what it is... I guess a combination of things including no more planning, no more B2B, no more honeymoon to look forward to, and also the other issues that I had before the wedding that weren't as prominent b/c I was so preoccupied with wedding stuff like hating my job, hating living in the city, etc. I don't remember being depressed like this for a long time (I'm usually a very cheerful person and have been trying to put up a happy front), and it makes me feel awful b/c I should be so happy being married. It was a dream come true that I'd been looking forward to for the 8+ years DH and I have been together. Ugh. I just can't shake it.

Re: Did you feel down after the wedding?

Yes! I was feeling very down last night and tried to explain this to the husband. He doesn't get it--he never got into the planning as much as I did. I can't say it's from lack of things for me to do either--work is really busy right now, and next week I'll be out almost every night with friends or some project. There's also a problem in my family that's probably dragging me down a bit more, but I do miss the planning and the fuss over me. I've never experienced anything like that.

It's also my first full week back at work, and I think the glow surrounding the wedding has worn off. I'm also a supervisor, and I admit, I let some things slide the last few weeks. Now I'm realizing how little two of the people I supervise did while I was away, busy with plans, etc.
