DH and I made friends with a few couples and hung out with them the whole time. We are now making plans to visit 2 couples in Ohio for an Ohio State game.
My friend just told me on her honeymoon they didn't talk to anyone because on a previous vacation they met a couple who turned out to be swingers and wouldn't leave them alone the whole time!!!

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
kind of.......at a Luau in Maui we ran into someone my DH grew up with.....they were also on their HM and it just so happened his wife was also an LIW bride!! Jboota! we hung out with them the whole night, since they were leaving the next day...fun times! there was another couple we had fun with that was at our Luau table but we forgot to exchange e-mail addresses or anything- but they were from LA, so I doubt we'd ever meet up!
while we were in LAX airport waiting to get on our connecting flight to Oahu, we ran into Stephanie aka fallinlove91407!! I figured the airport would be the last time I saw her in Hawaii.....but then the next day we were on the same Pearl Harbor tour, despite staying at different hotels, too funny! her & her hubby were so nice!

In spite of all this we tried to make the best of it for the rest of our trip, I am also a newly wed so I had to enjoy the rest of the time with DH and had a great time.
OMG I'm so sorry that guy treated you like that!!! what a complete jerk! he could have tried to make it funny and re-do the proposal as a joke w/ it being videotaped......he didn't have to be so dramatic about it. honestly who really gets their proposal on tape??? I have a couple of pictures and its after the proposal that I asked some stranger to take. he sounds like a real a-hole.
I had a videotaping incident too.....my bff's bridal shower last year, her sister was supposed to be taping her mom's speech, but she decided in the middle of it that she had to take off her shoes so she hands me the video camera, and like you, I thought it was already recording (it was on, but just paused)......so I sat there for the next 10 minutes while my friends mom was talking, all the while holding my arm as steady as possible.....all to find out at the end it wasn't taping!! her mom was crying during her speech and everything, she really wanted it on tape, I still feel bad about it, but luckily no one blamed me since they figured the sister would've had it already taping when she handed it to me.......I'm so sorry this guy is being so immature w/ you, your friend should be the voice of reason w/ him and help him understand that it was not intentional and he should just get over it!!!!

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
We didn't make any friends there but we knew that one of the couples that ran our pre cana was going to be there in Puerto Rico at the same time, so we were going to call them to have dinner. We ended up running into them accidentally at a Walgreens of all places. We did meet for dinner and then the husband was on our flight home 2 days later and I ran into him again the next day in church and again at the deli afterwards. I was teasing him that he was stalking us.

No, had no desire to either, is that mean?
nah, i dont think its mean. its just whatever you prefer. DH and I had no interest in meeting anyone else. it was our honeymoon, which for us meant just enjoying spending time together just the two of us. thats why we went somewhere that was more quiet and private and wasnt all about nightlife and stuff like that.

Sorry this is so long- but I thought this would be an opportunity for me to vent about this issue. As a spin off of did you make any friends on your honeymoon, the drama we had is something that I would never forget and still trying to get over it. We made friends, a nice couple from Boston but so far we just e-mailed and maybe will meet in the neat future. I also lost a friend. We went to our honeymoon about 5 moths after the wedding because we wanted to take a cruise and I didn’t have enough time off from work. Well, my MOH was taking a cruise with her boyfriend so we decided to join them. On the second day of the cruise, at the formal dinner, he passed me the camera so that I would record them, I had a feeling he was going to propose to her but DH and I had not a clue, but I was right… he started proposing to her and I was recording the proposal and at the same time I was sobbing like an idiot and my eyes were all teary cause I thought it was exciting and I knew my friend was waiting for this for a long time and there is nothing she wanted more than that. I was so excited that I had no idea what he said, so as soon as it was all done, I asked to see the recording. Guess what? …. The camera was not recording
When he passed me the camera without giving me the heads up I guess I assumed it was ready and with the excitement no one really noticed it wasn’t. He was extremely upset almost crying, and I was too I said to him I’m sorry I know how much this meant to you and I said to her I feel awful that your special moment had to be ruined because after that he was in no mood to celebrate. Fast forward to the next day he was very short and not in a nice mood at dinner, DH and I ordered champagne we were going to toast to their engagement and say something nice but the mood was bleak. My friends FI got up from the table, and DH asked my friend what was wrong with him; she said, “He is still upset about last night, you know the camera was working and then all of a sudden it wasn’t” I was extremely upset after hearing this as it was already very uncomfortable so I said he has to get over it there is nothing I can do about it and I can’t keep apologizing, if that was so important to him, he should have planned it better. My DH decided to go out for a smoke (bad timing I know) at that time and I wasn’t staying by myself so I followed him out and sat outside with him until he finished. My friends FI stormed out after us, he was yelling at me right in front of DH and he was mad that I said he didn’t plan it well so DH said to him not to speak to me like that. He said f** that! and slammed the chair in front of him and left. After that, I was not to go back to the restaurant as obviously things were too heated. Later that night DH left them a message and said that we should all talk about this when we were all calmed. They never returned the phone call and the next day they changed their seating arrangements at the dining table. To me that meant she and her FI did not want to talk to us anymore
2 months later she send me an e-mail basically blaming for everything and saying that I did not apologize which was not true. I am very quiet, and I did not speak much but I definitely apologized a couple of times even though it was an accident and not something I caused or feel should be blamed for. We even tried having a phone conversation after the e-mail but it was with the same result, she just blames me and feels I should have apologized more and been more understanding to her FI. This was one of the most hurtful things, she was my best friend and MOH at my wedding and it’s very upsetting still after 5 months.
In spite of all this we tried to make the best of it for the rest of our trip, I am also a newly wed so I had to enjoy the rest of the time with DH and had a great time.
It's funny that I came across this post....and I've been debating all this time if its appropiate to reply to this.
First of all, I think its distasteful on your part to post our personal business in a public forum, knowing that i post here, for others to have a pity party for you. Don't you think I'm going to come across this or that one of your newlywed post buddies is going to FM the the string? And quite frankly, i can care less of the replies since this is one sided and i dont know them anyway.
Second, since you made the decision to post this, and your answer is completely irrelevant to the question, then tell the truth and not make yourself look like a victim and us (FH and I like complete a-holes.
No one blamed you. Out of mere selfishness you left me alone at the dinner table,,,,b.c god forbid you're upset . How come you fast fwded the good part, I came to talk to you at the casino after the proposal b/c i knew you were upset and did not want yout to feel any worse...but you were too busy playing poker and didn't want to talk- I guess you didn't feel that bad.... and last You said in front of me....after you stormed out, and left me alone at the dinner table that you were not going to apologize.
After 10+ years of frienship, not once did you make an attempt to talk to me during the trip or afterwards, i was the one that had to reach out to you for some type of answer from you. The b.s you fed me is that you're shy and quiet.and i should know that...But yet you have the ordasity post this in a public forum.
I don't even discuss this and pissed off that i had to read this on here...I thought better of you...but I guess my friends were right about you.
Whatever

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
I did not make friends with anyone but I did run into a coworker of mine that I did not know too well in Rome the first night we were there. We hung out with her and her family the first night and we were supposed to meet up with her the second night but we did not feel comfortable because it was her cousins wedding and she wanted us to just show up there. I felt that it would be rude of us to crash her cousins wedding so we did not go. But we did run into her aunt and uncle a few days later when we went to Venice. It was so weird to travel so far away form home and still run into someone I know, small world huh.

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
We made a few friends, but we didn't really keep in touch. The group that we met hung out a lot before we got to St. Lucia so they all had 'bonded' earlier in the week. One night we all went over to a different resort for dinner and drinks. We had a lot of fun with them.
