DH and I made friends with a few couples and hung out with them the whole time. We are now making plans to visit 2 couples in Ohio for an Ohio State game.
My friend just told me on her honeymoon they didn't talk to anyone because on a previous vacation they met a couple who turned out to be swingers and wouldn't leave them alone the whole time!!!

Actually - I went on my honeymoon with rachie and her new husband. we planned on having a dinner or two together but instead we hung out the whole time
we joked that we have been together so long with our DH's we didnt need the alone time (10+ years) and we had a great time!
When we went to Aruba in 2003 we met a couple from Boston that we stayed in touch with until recently!

We did! We met a great couple from Miami. They even invited us to stay with them whenever we're out there.
We also met another great couple from Canada. We did an all day excursion with them and met them in Playa del Carmen for some shopping. I lost their contact info though

we meet a few couples but didn't hang out with them. I mean we would talk to them if we were near each other but never made Friends with them or hung out.

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
We became friendly with a couple that were on our horror flight (lol! we went on a LITTTTTTLE plane from Tahiti to Moorea that freaked us all out!) and they turned out to be staying at the same resort as us. We chatted a bit, then saw them at breakfast a few times, and we were even on the same flight from Bora Bora to Tahiti! It was weird and so coincidental - they were a great couple and she told me she was a Knottie and we exchanged emails but I lost hers .
They were a really great couple from San Francisco!

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
We met a nice couple from Dublin at the castle we stayed at in Clifden. They purchased a few rounds for DH and fed me cigs since I couldn't drink that night. We talked politics and they yelled at me about my country and how pathetic we are as a nation since we seem to forget about how amazing freedom is and how we abuse it (which I agreed). Then this guy from Northern Ireland show up at the bar at the castle and made fun of DH because he couldn't understand his accent then they talked Irish/Gaelic and kept laughing at my husband and at that point I made us leave.
Lesson learned: never make friends just take the offer for free drinks/cigs and run!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
we didn't. I didn't speak the language well enough. And our resort only had like 120 rooms and was like as big as a resort with 400 rooms. So even though it was almostat full capacity, it didn't feel like there were many people around.
ETA: I just remembered we were snorkeling in a reef pool in Caineros (brazil) and a girl came up and was talking to us- she spoke English. It turned out she had lived in New Hyde Park for like 5 years and DH grew up in Mineola, so it was pretty random!

Hell no! Sorry but my honeymoon was to hang out with my hubby. Got the feeling that 99% of people at our hotel felt the same way though. I'm such a *****

Re: Did you make friends on your honeymoon?
Sorry this is so long- but I thought this would be an opportunity for me to vent about this issue. As a spin off of did you make any friends on your honeymoon, the drama we had is something that I would never forget and still trying to get over it. We made friends, a nice couple from Boston but so far we just e-mailed and maybe will meet in the neat future. I also lost a friend. We went to our honeymoon about 5 moths after the wedding because we wanted to take a cruise and I didn’t have enough time off from work. Well, my MOH was taking a cruise with her boyfriend so we decided to join them. On the second day of the cruise, at the formal dinner, he passed me the camera so that I would record them, I had a feeling he was going to propose to her but DH and I had not a clue, but I was right… he started proposing to her and I was recording the proposal and at the same time I was sobbing like an idiot and my eyes were all teary cause I thought it was exciting and I knew my friend was waiting for this for a long time and there is nothing she wanted more than that. I was so excited that I had no idea what he said, so as soon as it was all done, I asked to see the recording. Guess what? …. The camera was not recording
When he passed me the camera without giving me the heads up I guess I assumed it was ready and with the excitement no one really noticed it wasn’t. He was extremely upset almost crying, and I was too I said to him I’m sorry I know how much this meant to you and I said to her I feel awful that your special moment had to be ruined because after that he was in no mood to celebrate. Fast forward to the next day he was very short and not in a nice mood at dinner, DH and I ordered champagne we were going to toast to their engagement and say something nice but the mood was bleak. My friends FI got up from the table, and DH asked my friend what was wrong with him; she said, “He is still upset about last night, you know the camera was working and then all of a sudden it wasn’t” I was extremely upset after hearing this as it was already very uncomfortable so I said he has to get over it there is nothing I can do about it and I can’t keep apologizing, if that was so important to him, he should have planned it better. My DH decided to go out for a smoke (bad timing I know) at that time and I wasn’t staying by myself so I followed him out and sat outside with him until he finished. My friends FI stormed out after us, he was yelling at me right in front of DH and he was mad that I said he didn’t plan it well so DH said to him not to speak to me like that. He said f** that! and slammed the chair in front of him and left. After that, I was not to go back to the restaurant as obviously things were too heated. Later that night DH left them a message and said that we should all talk about this when we were all calmed. They never returned the phone call and the next day they changed their seating arrangements at the dining table. To me that meant she and her FI did not want to talk to us anymore
2 months later she send me an e-mail basically blaming for everything and saying that I did not apologize which was not true. I am very quiet, and I did not speak much but I definitely apologized a couple of times even though it was an accident and not something I caused or feel should be blamed for. We even tried having a phone conversation after the e-mail but it was with the same result, she just blames me and feels I should have apologized more and been more understanding to her FI. This was one of the most hurtful things, she was my best friend and MOH at my wedding and it’s very upsetting still after 5 months.
In spite of all this we tried to make the best of it for the rest of our trip, I am also a newly wed so I had to enjoy the rest of the time with DH and had a great time.

Wow how awful I can not believe how petty they were. If they were true friends they would have known that it was an honest mistake and was never intentional. I mean my engagement didn't get recorded nor did I take pictures and I was very happy. Now they had a choice to make the best out of that memory not your fault they chose to blow it up. So sorry that happened. Maybe they will notice one day how how petty that was and come to their senses.

OMG that is horrible!!!! First off, if her FH had really wanted the moment to be special and have it recorded, he DEF should have planned it better!!! Even if it was just telling you right before dinner so you knew, or telling your DH in case he thought you'd squeal or whatever, and for sure right before he gave you the camera, he should have said something like 'oh it's set up to record, just press the button' or whatever. Simple things like that. I can imagine how horrible you felt especially this being your BFF at the time and you apologized etc. Seems like they couldn't get over not having this on record and were willing to lose your friendship - I say they did you a favor. If that's the kind of people they are, to get THAT upset over something that was clearly a mistake and that you apologized for, then that's not the kind of friend you need. I feel so bad for you.

I can definitely relate and I know how frustrating and heartbreaking it is. I am sorry that it happened that way but you should be surrounded by people who love you, no matter what!
FM if you ever need to talk - wow! I still can't get believe it and I am sure you can't either!

That's terrible, I'm so sorry you had to go through that and on your honeymoon, no less!!.
I'm sorry but you BFF's FH is a jerk. I could understand him being upset in the beginning, buthe should really understand that you felt (and still feel) terrible about what happened. And ultimately it was HIS responsibility to make sure the camera was working and set up. It also would have been nice if he had informed you of what was about to happen!!
I hope you realize your really not to blame and I hope your friendship can get through this!
