Re: did you save your cake

We took home the top tier (which was huge) and my ILs froze it while we were on our honeymoon. We ate 80% of it though when we got back. We had a little get together to look at table camera pictures, and to watch home video of the wedding. The cake was too huge to save in my small freezer for a year, and I figured we should eat it while it was still good. We did save one slice, I figured it was the best of both worlds, I wouldn't be disappointed on our first anniversary that I didn't save the cake, and when we eat the cake and it's really gross, I won't be upset that I wasted a perfectly good cake, and wasted so much space for a year.

Re: did you save your cake

We saved ours.
We were told by a bakery to freeze in the box the night of the wedding, then the day after the wedding take it out, wrap it in saran wrap, then put it back in the box and then saran wrap it again. They said that it works - I guess we'll see. We have another 11 months to see though
I would really like to eat it now though

That's exactly haow I feel. I think we will eat soem of it next tiem I see my parents. Frozen a month shoudl be better than frozen a year.

Re: did you save your cake

Yup - we saved ours. My aunt wrapped it up for us and we kept it in my dad's freezer. He took it out a couple of days before our anniversary and we went out to dinner with my family and came home to have that as dessert. I'd meant to pick up something else in case the cake sucked, but it actually was delicious!! We had a couple of pieces left after that so we had it with the IL's the next day.

Yes we did, it is still in my parents freezer. We will eat it when we come home from Ireland, hopefully it will taste OK.

we were fortunate because our baker sends us the top tier on our one year anniversary so we didn't have to save it.

Re: did you save your cake

We saved ours...I defrosted it the day after our anniversary (was not home the day of our anniversary)...the cake seemed good but the filling was sour!!! It turns out my mom didn't freeze it right away so I guess the chocolate moouse went bad and then I froze it....I am mad because that stupid box took up so much room in my freezer for 1 year!!

Still had a lot left over but the house got to it during my honeymoon, it's gone now.

We did and it is sitting in my parents' freezer all wrapped up. I'm afraid to move it.

Same here.
