Disappointed no Christmas tree

I was talking to DH last night and I asked him where we could put our Christmas tree because our living room isn't really that big. He said No tree until we get a house. I agree it is smalll space But how can we have our first Christmas together with out a tree

He said it would be more meaningful when we have our house and there is a big tree to celebrate. But I doubt we will have our house by next Chrsitmas..

I love love love Christmas and I am still going to decorate and I would really like to get a tree in there.

Does anyone know if they sell fresh little trees? Any Ideas?

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

Home Depot usually has small trees still in a tub that you can plant after the holidays. Maybe you can buy one of those. Fake tabletop trees are generally pretty inexpensive too.

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

Get a little table top one! I don't know if they sell real ones that small but there are definitely a lot of fakes that size in the stores.

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

We travel back to NY for christmas every year so this will be our third christmas without a tree, for us it really hasn't a been a big deal but I guess that's because we aren't home.

I guess it will be exciting for us the first year we stay home and decorate and even more exciting because that will probably be when we have a baby

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

DH and I had the same problem/argument. We have a very tiny place and he didn't want to get a tree last year. So I was looking around and found this tree that takes up no room at all!! It is a little weird, it looks like this one, except the branches do not go that far down. The branches start about half way up, and it has a long stem, with a base at the bottom. It seriously takes up no room, it is not full, but when decorated it looks sooo pretty. I got it from Terrys village. I think their website is terrysvillage.com. The tree was $30. And the best part, because the branches are so high up, our cats don't try to climb it!! Good Luck, I hope you get a tree. There was no way I was caving in and not having a tree!!

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

get a tree. THIS is your first married christmas! When you get a house, get another tree.

No joke, my Dad used to have a house that was so big, he had 3 trees.

He had the 'big' 12 foot tree in his 'great room'

he had another 4 foot tree in the foyer.

And, in his basement, he had another 4 footer.

he also had a 4 foot Santa Claus in the Living room.

(and, he is really NOT the festive type. He NEVER had lights outside the house)

As for your place being too small...I grew up with my mom in a small apartment. EVERY YEAR, she put up a 6 foot tree!

You can do it!!!

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

Live in the moment. You never know what may happen in the future, it make take years before you have a house.

We've always had big trees in small apartments, just move the furniture around for a few weeks.

My house is pretty small and we always have a big tree. If you move things around you can always find a corner to put a tree in.

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

I agree with Sonicstef. Our house is small and we get a big tree each year. We just move the furniture around and put our coffee table in another room for a few weeks.

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

We have the same problem but we just came home with a tree. It is 4 1/2 feet tall. I plan on putting it on a table and covering the table with a tree shirt. We got it a Maces. It was on sale for $20. It is even pre-lite. It is perfect for us since we have NO room at all.

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

We just make the room also -- our tree is huge and takes up half the room but we love it

But there are small live trees, small artificial trees (some come with decorations), there are also tall slim line trees. And one of my friends just got som half tree that is flat on one side so it is flush against the wall. I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds cool!

Thanks everyone. We talked it over again and we are going to get a small tree or the slim one. I love Christmas and I couldn't go with out a tree. Lots of good ideas... Even if it is a Charlie Brown Christmas tree I have to have one

Thank you Thank You.. I am so happy now.

Re: Disappointed no Christmas tree

DH and I did not have a Christmas tree for our first Christmas due to lack of $$$. We did not even exchange gifts either. We bought a small fake re-useable tree for $50.00 for our second Christmas together in 2003. We live in a one bedroom co-op apt. thus space is limited, but having a small tree is easy for storage. We also exchange gifts during our second Christmas together. We bought it at Christmas Island and their prices are very reasonable. It was great to have a tree and worth having a small fake re-useable one as well.
