Ok So I hesitated in posting this because of the subject matter and our recent traipses into the world of controversy BUT I am stealing this from the 08 brides and ya know there has been some DRAMA over there but this subject they handled really well.

Everyone said their peace WITHOUT judging anyone else's opionions or stance so I'm hoping we can do that here as well.

I think the rule should be that you should fee free totally state YOUR opinion BUT.....DO NOT try to change anyone else's mind; example-quoting someone and then rewriting your original statement, because then it coems across as judgement and no one wants to judge anyone here. We're all pals...most of the time

If we all just post our opinions, obviously we see who agrees and who disagrees with us. That should help keep the controversy down hopefully.!

So now the thought provoking question of the day is:

What are your thoughts on capital punishment?

Those little smiley things are soooo cute. I have to ask Jess where she finds them. I should draw something like that for my classroom when i start teaching for the class rules.

I find great smileys using google advanced image search!!! Just type smiley then a few descriptive keywords. Depending on your keywords the results can be pretty funny!!

i do think its ineffective in that it doesn't deter criminals.

however i think all sexual deviants such as pedophiles & rapists should be savagely executed --lots of pain for them. because IMHO those people are absolutely unable to be rehabilitated (especially pedophiles) - so we shouldn't bother locking them up.

LMMFAO My MOM says the SAME thing which always kills me. she's sooo prim but sometimes she comes out with crazy stuff. Once she suggested rats be allowed to feed on those parts a little every day while the guy was alive.... Then she realizes what she is saying and turns cherry red.

Against it 100%.

I am a staunch pro-lifer across the board, and so this is another life issue for me.

I come to this opinion from a religious perspective i think. Who are we to play God? Who are we to decide who lives and dies? Granted, what a person might have done could have been absolutely terrible... and barbaric. I could not imagine what it would feel like to have someone i love raped or murdered, etc. etc. HOWEVER, two wrongs don't make a right. To kill someeone else because someone was killed is not solving the problem! People must be punished, but murdering them is not an option.

In addition, there are staggering statistics of many men and women (usually people of color, people of low incomes or people with developmental problems or those who did nto have the means for good legal representation) that have been executed... and later, through DNA and other means were foudn to have been innocent all along.
