for some strange reason i feel like a male would be more gentle. never been to a female.

I used to go to a male doctor and he was not gentle, believe me. Don't mean to get all TMI on you guys but once he put the speculum inside me and asked the female assistant to get him a swab or whatever they use to take the pap smear and it was her first day so she asked him where it was. He then proceeded to YELL AT HER (!) in front of me and tell her 'How could you not know where things are? When I ask you for something, you have to get it without questions, blah blah blah...' Meanwhile the friggin speculum is still in me and I'm in sooo much pain. I was trying to get his attention but he wasn't even paying attention to me. Me! The patient! Anywho, I go to a female doctor now and she has NEVER left a speculum in me to go yell at someone!

yikes. im sorry to hear that. as if gyno appts arent a cr@ppy experience to begin with! thats herendous.

women know how sensitive women are. im sure there are great male gynos! but theyre just not for me.

just went to the gyno for the first time in about 4 years and it was a female. she was amazing, made me feel really comfortable and fully exmamined me and told me i had a tilted uterus. my last doctors never told me that, unless it wasnt tilted then. regardless, i'm gonna stick with her for a long time

I thought I'd feel more comfortable with a woman but for some reason it was just wierd so I went back to the guy my family goes to & I've been going there 8 years

Female but she's so unfuzzy and hearts and flowers its like going to a guy. I just dont feel rigth with men looking up there. And can you imagine being married to one? SHEESH after seeing them all day he probably would look at yours and say eh honey you know, maybe if your *%$# were a little smaller....'

i originally had a women (who i love dearly she was very gentle) and now i have to go to a different practice with men and women... (which i have no choice which i am not happy about but trying not to think about it)

Always went to a male, but just switched to my cousin's gyno who is a female. But it never bothered me to go to a male.

Female. It's uncomfortable enough for me to go to the GYN, I'd rather not have a man down there to make me feel more self conscious or weird.

Male. I had a consult with a female once and she was very rough. To me, I feel as though males are more gentle since they don't have the same equipment!

Funny thread.

Mine is a super-gentle female...but I go to her because she makes choices calmy and rationally (in my opinion).

I guess you just gotta keep looking if the shoe doesn't fit.

I've never actually seen either of the male doctors in my office, I see the female nurse practitioner. She's great. I wouldn't be as comfortable discussing my sex life with a man. To me it feels like going to a bald barber or a mechanic who has never owned a car.
