I don't know if he things we're playing supermarket sweep (throwing 5 of the most expensive items into the cart and then running on to the next) or if he thinks we're the Hulk Hogan family...
But, I am initiating a grocery store budget before we have to declare bankruptcy...

We used to have a budget for groceries and it made things easier. we don't stick to it, per say, anymore, we'er just creful about what we buy and try to choose whatever is on sale. we've been pretty close to the budget every month so far

Hmmm....We spend around $60 on groceries each week. That includes the household stuff (cleaning items, toilet paper, etc.), so not just food. DH eats a lot, I eat a little. We buy what's on sale, but I can't imagine limiting ourselves to a budget. When I want something, I get it. We waste a lot of food (he only eats wheat bread, I eat white, but we don't eat much of it so there is always left going stale). Anyway, food isn't an area I want to skimp (at least in grocery food--we limit eating out/take out to save food money).

we dont have a budget... we just try to stick to getting Just what we need. we usually buy whats on sale though, and if its a good sale, we'll stock up

It's probably the one thing we don't budget because we'll use coupons and look for sale items. DH's philosophy is that we'll get the best if it's going in our stomach We'll get no frills for other stuff like cleaning supplies or something like that.

we attempt to, but it often goes out the window. Take out often takes over at the end of an exhausting day.
I do hate when things go bad - drives me nuts to throw away produce! So, we buy lots of meat, freeze it, and then a couple of times per week i hit the farmers market for fresh veggies, defrost some chicken, and viola!
Fresh Direct is great for keeping a budget...it keeps a tab of your 'cart' on the side of the screen. i love that feature.

I have no idea how much we spend on groceries per month. I do know that everytime I go grocery shopping the bill is at least $80.

We (I) go about every 2 weeks, so I spend between 100-120. When I have to stock up on meat or buy those huge paper towel and toliet paper items, its usually like 160.
I prefer to go alone b/c when DH comes we spend at least $40 more.
ETA: I always buy sale items, and if its a good sale I always stock up.

Us too. I love coupons also. I think we spend about $80 a week. My DH likes snacks (chips and such) which can get expensive. My downfall is snapple but it was on sale this week at Stop and Shop so I bought some. He cannot live without snacks though.

How do you guys do it??? Only spending 60-$80 per week? I always find myself spending $35 on stuff and it hardly ever includes food? What kind of food are you buying?

We usually go by a list and we use coupons. I would say we spend $60 to $80 every other week on groceries.
I usually just buy fruits and veggies and fresh meat that other week.... Scott
