Do you 'serve' dinner?

My question is after you have finished cooking do you fix a plate for your husband and serve it to him?

I have got into the habit of doing this. I guess it is the newness of being married and me cooking on a regular basis now trying out new recipes, I am always serving him.

Also when he is going to be home late I fix a plate and leave it out for him.

Do you guys do the same or not?

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

I always fix him dinner. I feel he over serves himself and his eyes are bigger than his stomache.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

If I cook I serve, if he cooks he serves.

The other usually does the clearing/cleaning up.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

No, not usually. I grew up in a very casual family and we all served ourselves all the time so I guess it is what I am use to. So basically I cook and leave it all in pots and we plate it ourselves. If something is messy or too hot (he can't take hot) or I just am in the mood, I will plate it for him.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

It really depends.. lately I've been so busy with school that I whip something up and plate it for both of us- I don't consider it serving though because we are usually sitting in from of the T.V. in our PJs by the time we are ready to eat dinner- it's horrible, I know.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

If I cook, I do fix the plates, and serve the food He gets the drinks and cleans up when we're done.

If he cooks, vice versa

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

Sassyz75 - I have to add what you said - we eat in the family room on our trays in front of the tv - we don't eat until 9/9:30 every night and this is the best way we unwind....so plating is really putting food on a plate and walking to the family room with silverware and napkins in hand!

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

I don't arrange his food on a plate...but I do put what I cook into serving dishes and have the table set then we serve ourselves. So I guess I serve 'family style'

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

I usually put the food in serving dishes and we each serve ourselves. Unless its osmething like pasta I plate it for him. He sets the table and gets the drinks and then he helps clear the table.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

I love to serve my husband, I put it on a tray with his drinks, his napkin and his food. I like to treat him like the king he is sometimes.

Sometimes I cook and he serves me and the rest of the family, sometimes we all just help ourselves. It all depends on the mood.

There is no set rule. If we are all going to sit and eat, we will take the bowls to the table and everyone serve themselves.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

We really share the cooking about evenly. Who ever cooks usually serves. The other usually sets and clears the table. I do more of the kitchen clean up because we have different standards on what 'cleaning up the kitchen' means.

Re: Do you 'serve' dinner?

Nope! We're very untraditional like that. DH is just happy when I cook at all, so he serves himself!

But if I made dinner, he would clean up and visa versa.

I do. We live in a small city apt...too many people in the kitchen won't work. Besides, he does the dishes
