I was raised that you should never go without stockings, especially at work but mine tore bad and I took em off. Legs are bare but shaved thank God lol so I think I can get away with it with my knee-leght dress but is that tacky at work? Should I run out and get a pair at the Duane Read around the corner?

It depends on my mood. I'm wearing them right now, but I wore a dress a few days ago & went without stockings.

I wear stockings every day - we aren't allowed to wear skirts without stockings. (no bare legs allowed in our dress code)
BUT - that being said, i am sure you are fine, especially if the dress is knee length - no one will even notice!

Peggy I atcually have a pair of those white little girl stockings Don't know why I bought them-nostalgia maybe but they look AWFUL on a grown woman. Really sald like a demented Alice.
OMG please burn them!!!! I cant even-if I ever see a grown woman in those things I will personally rip them so she cant ever wear them again

I hate stockings!! Only wear them if I absolutely have to- like if I have a wedding in January or something to go to and don't want to freeze on my way in I'll wear them... but thats about it- only if I HAVE to!

I don't, unless I'm wearing a short skirt and it's cold out, tho I usually just wear pants. I think a knee-length skirt on a day like today it's fine to go bare. However, I don't know the dress code where you work; at my company it's fine.

I never realized how many women HATE stockings until I came on LIW, LOL. I was in my own little stockings realm because for 12 years....count 'em.....12 YEARS ......I had to wear either tights or stockings with my Catholic School uniform. I grew up as a kid with it as second nature!! It wasnt until I got into college that I realized, wow...a lot of people our age cant stand wearing them!

I barely ever wear a skirt to work- usually just long pants. I only wear one skirt i have and its a pencil skirt that falls below the knees. If its winter I'll wear stockings, summer nope.
Im one fo the girls that tends to hate them!

I don't think you need to unless your job is very strict about their dress code. I only wear them every now and then. However I refuse to wear them with shorts! I think those women are crazy. Whats the point of shorts if you have to still cover you leg?

I usually only wear stockings on interviews and on very cold days over the winter. I have a few patterned pairs reserved for those days - from some reason the patterned ones last forever and do not make me feel as though I am being stuffed into them.

Yea I wear the patterned ones. My boss commenst on them because he likes the patterns. LOLodd but they keep me warm. Right now its not cool enough to need stockings BUT in the summer I might go back because they put the air up soOOO high I want to wear a tent.

They do look pretty awful. I like dark patterned ones but these are genuine alice in wonderland have to take a pic to torture you.
