They get along when they get together, but that is not often. My dad lives in Puerto Rico and my mom, let's just say that she loves my DH to death, but is not the type of person to reach out and stay in touch with people. So for holidays and stuff, we spend half the time with DH's parents and half with my mom.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. My mother's parents and father's parents never got along in fact, my mother's parents refused to go to her wedding and all my grandparents did not meet until much later in life. It was very sad for everyone.

I'm actually very lucky with this as my parents have become such good friends with DH's parents that they are currently on a vacation together (sounds crazy to us too).

Hopefully you and DH can have a discussion with MIL about the fact that they will be sharing grandchildren one day and you want them to be friends again. They are adults and shouldn't be divided over silly brother/BIL drama!

ours get along great, but they dont really call and hang out with each other...
but they invite each other over to dinner every once in a while.

Our mom's get along very well. They talk on the phone every now and then, go for walks to the diner together for breakfast... Very cute! Our dads... Eh, his dad is kind of opinionated and a drinker, my dad is not. They get along, but will never 'hang-out.'
