Doctor related question...

Doctor related question...

So I'm NOT pregnant but I'm trying to prepare for the (hopefully) not so distant future. I have a gyno that I like but I don't think he would really listen to me when I'm pregnant. I want a midwife instead of a regular gyno because I'm hoping when the time comes that I can have a natural childbirth. So now I'm thinking I need to find a midwife...besides just googling who is in my network (I have GHI and I know midwives are covered) how do I go about finding one? Do I call different offices and tell them I'm interested in coming in for an appointment to see if they're the midwife for me. It seems - I don't know - strange. Like interviewing someone

How do you find the person who will eventually deliver your babies?

im not in this situation yet...but i dont see why you shouldnt/couldnt go 'interview' for the right doctor.

i would just double check with your insurance to make sure that they dont have any limits on the amount of office visits you can have

good luck!

MY OB/GYN Has a mid-wife that works with the office. Are you sure yours doesnt?? You should ask if they recommend anyone.

No, it's just him at his practice. I think I might feel weird asking for a recommendation like, 'I dont trust that you would listen to what I want when I'm in labor so will you tell me who will?' KWIM?

Yea i kinda get it. Here is the Garden City office website. I go to the Long Beachj Office which is kind of more quiet & not a baby factory. Go into Our Staff the midwife Diane Lucks is at the bottom. Good luck : ) HTH
