DH is the youngest in his family and the only son, so all his life his parents (especially his mom) and sisters did EVERYTHING for him.
so now its an adjustment cuz I want him to help me out with household chores.
Do any of you ladies have this problem? How did you get him to start doing some stuff around the house w/o feeling like your nagging him!?

Im surprised some of you dont mind that your DHs dont do anything. I told DH that as long as we are both working F/T then we both have to contribute to chores cuz its not fair that I be expected to do everything! My mom spoiled my dad and she does EVERYTHING, the only thing my dad does is make coffee in the morning, and now its too late to change him so she warns me I have to 'train' DH early on!
I'm one of the ones who doesn't mind that my DH doesn't do anything in the house because my DH is out of the house working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week building a business.

I could handel it. I get things off my mind that way. So, I really don't mind. Plus, it is good exercise. The only thing I wish he would help out with is taking out the garbage and maybe doing the dishes every now and then. I'll try to work on that.

Re: Does your DH help out at home?
We have a cleaning person so we only really need to vacuum every week and dust when needed. Other than that washing the dishes and cooking is pretty much 50/50.
We solved this dilemma of who does what by getting a cleaning person.

Re: Does your DH help out at home?
When we both worked full time DH did a bit more around the house, but now that I only work part time he seems to think it's my 'job' to do everything. Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem doing more household chores since I do have more free time, but just because I have more time doesn't make me his maid. DH was unemployed at one time for 8 months and he didn't do sh!t extra around the house.

So much so that he has to give me occasional 'talks' about how I don't pitch in enough! He is the type who can't relax until everything is in its right place, and that is just fine with me!

Re: Does your DH help out at home?
DH definitely helps out around the house. In fact he's pretty anal about things, especially having any and all garbage out of the house at all times.
He cleans, cooks occasionally does most of the laundry (i HATE carrying it outside) and walks the dog half the time.

Ask him to do something for you as a 'favor' and then tell him what a great job he's done. Compliments, compliments and compliments. Tell him being he does it so well, maybe he could help out more. Whatever you do, don't lash out at him...
LOL! This sounds like you are training a dog!

Re: Does your DH help out at home?
YES. He does most of the cooking and then I will wash the dishes and clean up. He vacuums, takes out the garbage and cleans the bathroom. I do pretty much everything else. We have a good balance. He lived on his own for 4 years before we moved in together and I have been on my own since I was 17 (10 years ago) so we know how to take care of ourselves.

Same here for the most part. Works well for us. He will cook and wash dishes like 2x a week too.

At first NO. but we have been living together for over 2 years and the last year he has really picked up. I can honestly say he pulls his fair share. Sometimes without even asking and other times I have to nag But he always gets it done.

Yes, he helps out in every way possible. He's very domestic The only thing he is NOT ALLOWED to do is cook. I like my meals edible, thanks.
